Sure is! From memory I’ve seen some photos of you holding some good fish from this very pool.

Not everyone drives past it. I popped in for a brief fish there on Monday evening. Managed a late Christmas present. Boy the fish in there are gorgeous – condition and colour are just superb.

I’ll post a pic when it’s sent through to me.

For that river system a 4.5lb fish is well below average. There are plenty of rivers in New Zealand where 4.5lbs is a big fish…but this isn’t one of them.

The girl’s studying biology. I’m not sure I’d do too well seeing a lawyer.

This day wasn’t a big walk – probably around 18km. Quite a flat track too. Days range between 15 and 35km. Most are around the 20-25 though.

Monday was a great day to be on the river nice and early! It was one hell of a weekend. I’ve just posted a report from that day’s fishing.

Well the first one failed to sell, i just don’t think the right people saw it.

I’ve relisted in with a $1 reserve in the hopes that it’ll generate a little bit more interest. Once again, I’d hugely appreciate it if you were willing to share the links on facebook and forums.

    Here’s the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330627074628

With a $1 reserve it’s your chance to get a real bargain.

Great shots. The wacky fountain and buoy tree shots in particular gel with me.

Just bumping this to the fore again guys – truly amazing opportunity – particularly at the price it’s sitting at at the moment!!

PS – Good comments about the OS angler licence on ‘you know where’. Be interesting to see if our US friends would feel so aggrieved by it…

Someone had to say it. My guess is the US reaction would be entirely different given that a number of States already employ non-resident licenses. That and they don’t assume ownership of our wee slice of paradise to quite the same extent.  ;D Possibly a topic worthy of its own thread.

    Dave,
Just take him to Straubs eternal tap then hit the streams.  😉

Do beer googles apply to trout too?

Dave – if you’re a true beer fan then no trip to NZ would be complete without a visit to Hashigo Zake: http://hashigozake.co.nz/

Speaking as someone who has almost no practical skills I’ve got immense respect for anyone that can build something as beautiful as that canoe.

    Dave,
You are coming out way ahead on the trade with Jack even if you had to wear purple tights!!!!!!!

Maybe I should make him wear a full purple polyprop suit for all of the photos? That might even things up!

Dave – as soon as I cease to be a poor student and actually start making rather than spending money I definitely want to make it over to North America to fish. Intermittently I have dreams about 20lb Steelhead. They’re great dreams, but somehow unfulfilling. How easy is it to get a job in a flyshop for a few months? Let me know if you make it out here though, I’d be happy to take you fishing. Be warned though… I am slightly mad.

Talk about a couple of upsets! Two very good games of rugby though.
