I have a Richardson chest box with 3 compartments and arrange the flies into midges, dries, nymphs and streamers. Also just in case I will carry a C&F box with more flies. Frank

One of the best set of foot wear I’ve found was 1. Genius socks followed by 2. a pair of fleece socks and then 3. a pair of wool socks usually Patagonias. For the body I’l start with a pair of polypropelene the a pair of fleece (Patagonias)

in reply to: Maxima leaders – any thoughts? #20390

๐Ÿ™‚ Neal, The colour of the Maxima is chameleon. The kit I use is sold by Fly Fishers Paradise here in State College, PA. It comes with a fairly complete set of instructions for building a variety of size leaders. The address is: FFP 2603 E. College Ave. State College, PA

in reply to: Somebody say something about a t-shirt? #20294

Long sleeve any colour but pink.

๐Ÿ˜‰ Try building your own. Flyfishers Paradise has a great kit for building your own leaders. they are strong and really lie down nicely. give it a go. I make a whole set in 3,4 and 5 wt and have them all year. I usually fish 3 to 4 times a week and it’s a great savings.

๐Ÿ˜‰ After fishing for salmon for 2 days and never having any luck, I bought a fly, an Alley’s shrimp on the third day. I thought that it would work since we fishing in the late afternoon and it would be more visible. Lo and behold it worked and I got my first salmon ever after many years of trying. A great 12 lbs. and what a fight. I guess it pays to think like a salmon. Memorable. The trout I’ve caught through the years pale beside it.

Beautiful shots. Brought me back to my safari in ’87. there are so many great memories and tons of pics that I took. I had 2 cameras goig all the time. The game was only shot by a camera. I was inspired by “Karamojo” Bell and books like Hunter that I read as a kid. In the 60’s while studying in Europe I had the oportunity to travel. One classmate was from what was then Rhodesia and one from Ethiopia. traveled with them to their respective countries. Great memories. Thanks for reviving them. I think it was alot easier then.

::) I hope you’re praying that the sausage and bacon won’t stick to your arteries. It didn’t work for me and lead to 71/2 hours of open heart. seriously, I was drooling the whole time I read the note. Great shots and thanks for sharing. After that I may have to take an extra dose of Vitorin.

What a joy. I remember my daughter statring when she was five. We had great years and like you she had her own waders etc. Some patients of mine gave me a gift certificate for a rod and had it made for her. Caught alot of fish on that. She’s grown now and after graduating college she moved out to San Diego. She’s still a great “kid”, but hasn’t been able to fish much out there. I did some addiction work after I retired and found myself making a list of the ages when these poor creatures stared using. Average age 12 to 13. I wondered if their parents had introduced them to fishing if they would have entered the world of the addicted. I’m glad we introduced ours to fishing and the outdoors. Then again you have to look at the parents. Sad comentary. Keep them fishing. It’s great.

:)Frank E. Sangiorgio. I’m “The Old One” 75, fishing since fish hooks were made of bone. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m a retired Doc of 2 years and have practiced medicine in Italy, Saudi Arabia and New York and wound up in Altoona, PA. Great steams and I’m trying to fish them all. Great wife who encourages fishing. Even when I was in practice and she saw me getting irritated, told me you need to fish, “go!”. Got irritated alot. Fished in alot of overseas places with a good friend. Next trip, Patagonia. Only 23 miles from the famous Little J and hit that stream at least 2 to 3 times a week. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ve kind of been following Zach’s career since he was on another forum and then started his own. Totally ignorant about making an avitar and posting pictures, but will learn.

My Buddy and I fished the Tay about 6 years ago. We stayed at a B&B calledThe PEnd in Dunkeld. Marvelous, fod and trearment. Then we went to fish. The ghillie was dressed in tweed, shirt and tie, the whole nine yards. When he saw that we cuold fish and could take a nip his attitude changed and he turned into a real ghillie and the fun began. The basis for his initial attiude I believe, was that he guided for a US Senator and his group. They couldn’t fish worth a darn and all they really wanted was to hear stories and have a ghillie that looked the part. We won out and had a great time. We went to the House of Bruar to buy some gifts and clothes. Granted we did look like Pete the Tramp and their attitude was less than cordial, but that changed when the Amex cards came out. Amazing, but a great time was had by all. Frank

๐Ÿ˜‰ The deer in PA have moved into my back yard and they love my garden. It’s like a salad bar to them. Even the fawns have learned to snack. S.D.

Steven, Nice hearing from you. I live in Altoona. Fish as far as The Yellow Breaches, but mostly Spring creek, Penns and the J. Right now Penns is too hot. The J is low and and with the heat is getting warm in the 70 degree water temp. I backed off for now and will restart as soon as the weather changes. Retired so I can fish whenever I want and where I want. Great luxury. Frank ๐Ÿ™‚
