MemberThe easiest solution might be to just wait for the cloudy days, that is when i seem to get the best shots.

MemberFantasic shots, Christmas Island has always been on the list of places to visit, but i think it just moved up a few spots closer to the top.

MemberI had the same thing with my canon last year.

MemberI read an article in one of my mags at home that talked about alot of the wedding photogs and journalists are not going to the newest high megapixel pro-bodies by canon and nikon because they don’t need the extra megapixels for their work, and the file sizes simply slow them down to much.

MemberTim, i live between Holland and Zeeland, which is due west of Grand Rapids on the lakeshore. I have actually gotten to know the Little South quite well in the past couple years… My parents bought a cabin and a pretty large chunk of land which the Little South runs throughin ’03. Quite a few of the shots on my blog are from that part of the river. It can be great fishing in the right conditions (at night, or high dirty water), or terribly poor fishing in the wrong conditions. The coolest fish up there so far was a 29″ summer run steelhead that took a dry fly after dark last summer in july.

MemberI drive over the Muskegon almost everytime i head up to the cottage, which is right by the PM. The Michigan DNR has flat out said that they are managing the Mo as a put and take fishery, they put them in, so the kill guys can take them out. Its to bad. The flies only section on the PM has gotten alot better, but those fish now see alot of flies, and can be alot harder to catch because of the no kill. Alot of my better fish in the PM have come from down lower in the river, near branch and walahalla, but you have to get in away from the bridges and public land to get away from the bait fishing areas to find them.
There are a couple lesser known small rivers between home and the PM that i want to try in the next couple weeks.

MemberI wish rivers around me had hatcheslike that too, because 99% of the time they don’t. This is the best i have seen this hatch in as long as i have been fishing this river (at least 10 years). The only other really good hatch is the hex, in a couple weeks. The problem with that is it is a pretty small piece of water that gets the really good hatches, it is know well, and after the first few days most of the fish develop phd’s in picking flies from naturals. Hopefully, the quality of the hatch this year is a sign of the health of the river, or, maybe its just the one good effect of global warming? 🙂
Its the PM again, i’ve heard the Mo fishing has really gone down hill? I;m sure there are still big ones around like the one your dad saw, but the river guides and such have said the kill fisherman have hit it hard and some areas almost seem devoid of fish. I hope its not true.

MemberFor those that have a GD, how do you think this bag would work vs. a pelican for riding in a Landcruiser across some remote part of africa hunting cape buffalo?
Eric DeWitt
MemberI won’t repeat the advice above, as it covers most everything i would have to say.

MemberCongratulations on the BAR, i am currently working on my 4th of 9 tests i have to take for the Architectural Registration Exam, so i feel your pain.
Don’t worry about the site, i’m amazed you are able to keep up with it as much as you do.

MemberSo is that just regular Ag Lime like you would get at a feed supply store?

MemberI’m not sure how your converting to b/w, as it sounds like you don’t have the shop…
Some cameras have B&W capabilities in camera.
Right, but most of them are set up to give you the same results as using the desaturate command in photoshop – which can be ok, but alot of times the results are bland.

MemberI’m not sure how your converting to b/w, as it sounds like you don’t have the shop, but if you have a way of manipulating the RGB channels that are getting plugged into the b/w, i think you could adjust the contrast and tones to get more pop in the image. This easily done with the channel mixer adjustment layer, set to monochrome in the shop.

MemberWell, i think i found part of the snafu with my flash stuff.

MemberWhen wading in smaller streams, i have been rolling the dice and putting my rig over my head and around my shoulder, so the strap is across my chest, this way i can slip it around to my back when not needed, and it easy to pull around to the front for a quick shot.

MemberNess, based on what your asking, i think you should check out lightroom if you haven’t already. You can set up multiple tags on files, and you can have multiple short lists of common used ones that you can save, and its as simple as clicking on the word to add it to the file or files. No typing at all.
For me, i think the date based folder system is more efficient, i spent to much time sorting files when i had subject based folder system. Lightroom seems to give the best of both worlds, where you can leave the folders date based, and add the keywords or location metadata to make for easy finding.
On top of that, it will do 90% of what elements does is most areas, and more than elements in other areas.
