For those of us in the Midwest, Boulevard’s Nutcracker Ale is very good, but I may be drinking Tallgrass Brewing’s Velvet Rooster – the first Belgian Trippel in a can – over the holidays.

I’ve been fishing Guideline Polarized (glpolarized.com) for several years and have been very happy with them.

We made a bimini video, maybe that will help, as I agree, bimini is the best backing to fly line connection.
Got one of the new BVK reels (the 5/6) last weekend, and while I haven’t yet spooled it up and fished it, it is light, has a great deal of drag adjustment latitude and is darn pretty.

A 5 is a little light, especially if those somanobatching fish are big bastages (i’m tracking the JD reference).

If my home lake wasn’t 10 feet high and rising, I’d advise you to come north a couple of hours for some sight fishing for carp.
The TFO Professional series, paired with a reel at your local Cabela’s or Bass Pro, where they basically give you the line for free, would serve him well for many years.
Yep – BIG red or orange flies, a good chum line, and as short of a steel leader as you can get away with.
