MemberYes, I’m far from in love with it but it has some possibilities…like yourself, I need to spend a little more time with it.
I put this little short together from footage that I shot from the first time I really put it to use and as I sit here a month or so later (and a few more times out with it) my opinions haven’t changed much…but again, it’s only an opinion.

MemberI have one but my limited experience with iMovie so far is that it sux so bad it isn’t worth fooling with. Until I find an easier solution to edit movies I’m just collecting snippets of video.

Works awesome, I have a bunch more footage from a second tarpon trip with the camera on my head with a headband mount.

MemberThe GoPro is a fantastic little camera. Not the easiest to use initially but its size, price and possibilities makes it a true winner.
All the underwater footage as well as POV (chest mounted, such as at 03:36) in this trailer:http://vimeo.com/14877592 was shot with a GoPro. For even better UW footage you should use the special lens (that we didn’t have at the time).

MemberI’ve thought about getting one of these. Â I’ve compaired the Contour and the Drift cameras, and I just keep coming back to the GoPro for the video quality and because their waterproof case is an integral part of the product package rather than an afterthought.
The much Contour + camera has some really interesting features though. Â HDMI output, GPS, and Bluetooth connectivity which apparently allows you to use your smartphone as a remote viewfinder to check your view angle prior to starting a video. Â At $499 (without a waterproof housing), you pay for these features.
I still like the GoPro package, but it is almost 2 years old and I think I want to wait for the next iteration.

Curtis BiasMemberJames Shelton- Did you have a guide on your Louisiana trip? One of my friends is looking for a guide out of New Orleans on a redfish trip.
I lived down in that area for 11 years, but I have been away for over a decade and don’t know who is guiding down there right now other than the Orvis guys.Jul 14, 2011 at 9:17 pm #49220bene

MemberWe used four of them on a pilot we were working on a few months back on the Guadalupe River in Texas. They are fantastic. The accessories are where you will be spending more money – for example the screen for the back. They definitely have that “wow” factor, and I was talking to a couple of production assistants that work here in Las Colinas, Texas, and they said they use them on reality shows, and there are now specialists on sets that only manage all the GoPro cameras. That said, there’s always something better right around the corner isn’t there?

Curtis BiasMemberWell James, I enjoyed your video. I posted a link to it on a Louisiana fly fishing forum. My wife is from Slidell and we currently live in North Louisiana. Lets just say that your fishing video made me feel right at home.
