MemberAwesome! Looking forward to your pics .. It is an special river and annual pilgrimage for me. I would have to say the fishing was “on fire”.
I forgot to say that the girl who had not checked in was supposedly with your group. I am guessing that she was just out having fun!?!

MemberSo.. How did the cuttie-thon go? Hope everything was good! There was some pretty vicious weather Friday and Saturday night. I looked for you guys while fishing, but never crossed anyone’s path. Or so I thought .. A sheriff from Afton dropped by my camp on Sunday looking for “a girl who had not checked in @ home”. He also told us that a woman with a inner tube that I had said hello to earlier in the day was with you guys. I ran into her pretty high up on the river (44 miles or so) and heading down river Sunday afternoon.
Any pics?

MemberThanks Dusty, a very big win for me personally. Believe it or not, they called me. (emailed me), looking for Bass pictures on the fly for their site and catalog. Should see a pic or two in the Fall run. Keep your fingers crossed.
Awesome! Got my fingers crossed for ya! 🙂
I have to say … I thought smallies were pretty fun and another trip to the JD is on my list for next year.

MemberNice job .. I like the layout and design. I dont think the image gallerys were up the first time I visited and it looks like it has really come together!

MemberGreat report .. Glad you got into some very nice looking fish! Sounds like a pretty sweet gig! 😉

MemberSo this is an ultra wide angle lens. How much do they sell for?
You can pick them up for 699$ .. I really liked my sigma, but the poor construction and reliability (of this particular lens) made it not worth the hassle.

MemberThis is my point…ALL I HAVE is 2 or 3 “weekenders”. The highlight of my entire fishing year is what most people consider table scraps.
Dont get me wrong…I LOVE the stage my family is in…scraped up knees, teaching them how to ride a bike, finding monarch caterpillars on the undersides of milkweed leaves. …
Sorry, I didn’t mean for it to sound like I don’t enjoy the weekend fishing. Quite the opposite … I think I’d be happy sticking my local river for a long long time. This year has been an exception for me and my new job has allowed me a bit more ‘extra’ time. My boy is now to the age where I think i’ll start to have a bit less river time .. I’m looking forward to it.

MemberThanks for all the compliments everyone! It is high praise coming from such a talented group!
Corey, have to agree with Aaron, very inspiring pix!. Looks like a great trip and a fun bunch of friends. Did you shoot the majority of these with the 10-22? I like photo #10 the best! Thanks for sharing!
I did use the 10-22mm a ton .. I think it was a “new toy” thing .. lol. I did pull out the 50mm and the 100mm for a few hours though. I specifically stayed away from my fisheye on this trip.
Honestly, I can say that this message board that inspired me to pursue photography! Zach’s initial podcast on streamside photography got my interest and got me going out with a camera. It was an awesome road map for a new artistic outlook on fly fishing.
Along with that comes threads like these that have really inspired me to think about my photography, improve, and really push myself.

MemberThanks Jeff fantastic post … I couldn’t have said that any better.
Perhaps there is a little luck mixed in. For myself its locations … Yellowstone, Wyoming, and Dillon (MT) are not to far away and I’m lucky enough to have in-laws with a cabin in a very central location. A mother in Fl. and an aunt in AK don’t hurt either.
I have to say I’m damn near out of vacation now. So, its back to the desk and the computer. I doubt I’ll be doing anything more than weekenders for a while. I am pretty sure this will make my wife and boy very happy.

MemberThose are fantastic and your boy looks like a natural. You must be one proud dad! Thanks for sharing. I keep saying that I cant wait til my boy is old enough to get out there with me, but based on your pics I’m sure he’s pretty close!

MemberWell, as a trout guy, I must say part 1 appeals to me more, but this still looks fun. More cool pics. Sweet fish shots
I’m on the same page with you about being a trout guy, but after I got into the rhythm of the fishing .. It was a pretty good time and a great change of pace. I think the thing I enjoyed the most about the trip as a whole, was the contrast. The fishing, the water, the temps, the pace … It was pretty interesting.
I dig the shot of the deer head with the rattler in it’s antlers.
Thanks! I don’t think I have seen more animal heads in shops anywhere. I’m looking forward to going back for more pics of the town.
