MemberIf deep is definitly what you are after then you could go ahead and start with the leadcore LC13 made by cortland its cheap so you can afford to experiment with it, for an 8 wt you are probablly going to want to use 28 or 29 feet of that instead of 30 though.

MemberFunny, I was messing with a blank over here and thinking similar thoughts after typing that up last night.
While we are at least close to the end of what can be done whith graphite it still has its weaknesses, I think this ultimately comes down to its, um, weakness.

MemberI agree fully with your comment on the line making the biggest difference when dealing with “average” fishing and I actually think that can translate back to some of what I said earlier.
Carter Simcoe
MemberYeah its pricey but if it is what they say it is then its priced right along with its competition I’d say.
It will be interesting to see how the market responds to the styling, I hope it does well because I would like to see similar concepts.
Makes me wonder how Tibor is doing with sales of the Billy Pate reels, I’m a big fan but to be honest I’m kind of suprised they are still around.

MemberZach,
I think you are right on with alot of that, especially if we are assuming a common denominator of throwing WFF lines with average size flies.
Carter Simcoe
MemberI’m kind of laughing that you bring this up, especially with the razor analogy…..
Carter Simcoe
MemberI like it.
Carter Simcoe
MemberSince you bring it up, with regards to your casting stroke and rod selection, I think its a falacy to lump large air resistant flies into the same category as ones that are simply heavy.
Carter Simcoe
MemberSorry if you are tired of hearing my opinions but…….
Carter Simcoe
MemberI agree with you about the pellet feeding but I don’t know about the public vs private waters thing.
Carter Simcoe
MemberI think he laid it out pretty clearly
I am looking at getting a rod for fishing the smallmouth creeks in th ozarks.
Carter Simcoe
MemberAre you really sure you want a six weight for the creeks?
Carter Simcoe
MemberI’ve never read this magazine but I always hear about it.
Carter Simcoe
Memberyeah, I bet the Xi2 is a great rod but I also really think Dunfly has a good point.
Carter Simcoe
MemberSorry to bring it up again but if your looking for a slightly forgiving faster rod that you aren’t going to out-grow soon those recently discontinued Sage XPs are pretty much that.
Carter Simcoe
MemberYeah, those RPLXis are sweet.
Carter Simcoe
MemberI suggest you consider a 7 wt as well.
