I use weed guards on some of my saltwater flies. Right now, I am using a short piece of 20# fluorocarbon extending from the head to just beyond the point. I have tried to find a stiffer, lighter line to use with no luck. Here is an example, but in this picture I haven’t timmed the end of the guard.
I have also tried tying in a piece of light fluorocarbon at the bend of the hook and looping it under the point of the hook and tying it back in at the head. I have had problems with this arrangment fouling and interfering with hook sets.
Actually I made my list and so far I know all of it has be bought.
1. Boga Grip, a redfish just stole my old Berkley Pocket Grip right out of my hand.
2. Willow creel with leather harness.I used Paypal once and started getting all manner of spam and fraud e-mails. If you don’t mind, I’ll just send a check.
You can get a Lamson Velocity for less than $150 at Madison River Fishing Company. They also have the Lamson Radius even cheaper. I would go with either on of these before I would go with the Konic. I’m sure these are the older models (pre Hardi Lox), but very good reels for the price. Read the Velocity discription closely, it appears they are mismached colors. I have a Lightspeed and a Radius. The Radius is not a large arbor reel, but it is wide and has good backing capacity.

It amazes me that Atlanta thinks the drought only affects them and they have sole claim on the water.

3. Sitting down to a well prepared crab cake.Congradulations on the kayak (although the OK Prowler is actually the premier fishing kayak ::)). The WS Tarpon 140 is a nice ride. I have Scotty fly rod holders on my Prowler instead of the flush mounts because of the fly rods.
Have you rigged an anchor trolley or wade line on it yet? You will also have to make a stakeout pole. And of course you will have to find a milk crate.
