Zach writes that this forum is build on princples of respect.
Had to laugh when I read this. What about the poster (forgot his name) who created a thread about his guided trip with Landon Mayer. A bunch of posters began attacking Landon (for what, I have no idea) and when the guy came to Landon’s defense, Zach deleted his thread and picture. Later he got kicked off the board.
These are the principles of respect you’re talking about, Zach?
There are really a few issues that contribute to ” warping”-
Distortion caused by the optical formula of the lens- so barrel and pincushion which warp the image

An extension tube or two on a 35 or 50mm prime may get you in the ball park of macro. Just what you might need for economy, versatility, and keeping angle of view distortion low.
What I was trying to bring out in the previous post is: distortion is often a matter of how close you are to the subject with wider lenses. To overcome distortion on a wide angle lens, you can try just moving away a little farther. But obviously one of the nice things about a wide angle is you can squeeze a wide angle view of a subject within a short distance–say a small room. That’s a great use of wide angle.
On landscape, the better lenses correct for that sort of thing around the edge. But it takes thicker lenses and more groups of glass, so they are expensive.
A further thought to Zach’s good reply: angle of view is a very subjective thing, also. I had a professional photog (documentary/photojournalist) as a customer one day and she did not like anything wider than 28mm. She complained about wide angle distortion in photographs several times but would throw on a 300mm tele without hesitation.
Did not catch the macro part of your question. Many prime lenses will allow you to focus closer in than zooms for close-ups. But the distortion on wide angle lenses becomes more noticeable the closer you get (big nose effect). True macro (magnification life size or greater) is a different critter.

Maybe you could buy the lens coat for the that lens, and then tell you wife you need the lens to go with it.
Beautiful Brittany, btw. I have never seen one that dark – most of the ones I have been around are more copper than liver. Is it a particular breed?
Not that I know of Zach. See’s just a beautifully marked dog. It’s a shame she’s only a pet and is not worked.
This reminds me – I need to repackage my home-prepared capes; they are leaking onto the folders (greasy). Salt will do wonders to prevent decay but it can’t dry a hide beyond a certain point.
If you can find some Borax Soap powder, Zach, it’ll dry anything out.

She got as good as she gave. I obviously was trying to showcase her since I’m proud of her. But the other students, a father and his daughter, did well also. It’s a great sport, and you have to admire the discipline, knowledge, maturity as well as the fitness that all the students attain.
You can really see how they treat others with respect. It tends to take the whininess out of people and makes them such a pleasure to be around. However, the instructor said he refused to let one student test a while back for the black belt because he judged him too arrogant. Character is ranked as important as the other skills.
You might never know my niece is a black belt just meeting her casually.

(seriously, good luck to her!)Right, although that’s her and her brother sparring (also a black belt), so it’s been good for them!
My problem is determining how much to set it on the shoot. I can’t really assess very well the IQ in that little LCD screen. So if it’s in the ball park I don’t worry too much about it. Wish I had at least tried a few with exposure compensation however. Live and learn. Another niece has started lessons, so perhaps down the road, I’ll have another chance to get better at it.
