This looks like a real match for the Canon G9. Check it out here.

Except the G9 is now under $450. I saw it under $400 ealier this summer during the rebates. Doubt the P6000 will be that cheap for a while.

Scott it would look like that GPS feature would be great for tracking where you catch all the big ones worthy of a shot! If it were only waterproof!

That would be cool, David. I can see it being really useful on road trips and vacations.

I guess I missed the $499 MSRP on the link the first time. That’s not too bad for a new P&S at that level.

The first digital camera I bought was a coolpix 5000. It was slow to record and the swinging LCD (which I really like on a P&S) did not stand up to use. But a good camera at the time with its feature set. I really like these new ones with the manual options.

I suspect Canon are about to upgrade the G9 so the price is dropping..

I’m thinking of getting one for all those times I couldn’t be stuffed lugging the big ones around.

Only problem with the Nikon from what I’ve read is it has a new raw format with limited scope instead of their NEF format.
I don’t understand their thinking on that at all – you would think they would want a common file so everyone already had conversion softwear.

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.
