Zach, it’s funny you mention Yellow Dog, as a good friend of mine used to guide at Breckenridge Outfitters with Ian and Cale. I’ll have to get in touch with my friend and try to hook something up. I’ve made the trip out west when I graduated high school with my school’s fly fishing club (http://www.familytyes.com) and it was truly a blast, and I’m really looking forward to getting out there to hit some new water. It looks like we are going to have great flows too! If you end up in the Lamar valley, be sure to run up the Soda Butte, you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks — good to be here. I’ve actually been lurking for awhile. This is a great board. Doesn’t Zach do a great job? It’s one thing to enjoy the sport of flyfishing. It’s quite another to make it more enjoyable for others. Zach has a knack for doing just that, especially using info tech/multimedia in so many interesting ways (e.g., images, video, this board, and good, old-fashioned writing). Hat’s off to him.
Always run good to run into somebody with MI roots. As for the Au Sable, yes, I do fish it — this past week, in fact. Beautiful, beautiful river. I fished the Holy Waters upstream from Gates (at Thendara), and I fished the North Branch.
To be honest, I’ve really taken to the Manistee River these past few years, especially upstream from Grayling (e.g., Deward). For the first time, I fished upstream from Mancelona Rd., at the headwaters. Wild and beautiful.
In fact, these past few years, I’ve found myself pushing farther and farther upstream, into the headwaters and creeks with which these great rivers begin — for the beauty, for the solitude. Hence, my acquisition of the Scott F 703/3.
I’m familiar with your neck of the woods. I have family in Loveland (serious outdoorsmen). I’ve admired both the Poudre and the Big Thompson, though I’ve never had a chance to fish either. Likewise, some of the water up near Walden — admired it, though without having the opportunity to fish it.

and was able to get that shot.You may want to google for a Benbo pod- very versatile/beautifully made/did I mention very versatile out in the field?:)
The prob with most pods is that they have a design limit on how they can adapt to variable terrrain, inherent from studio /all three legs tied to stability ,designs. The Benbo is a field pod that looks to step out of the studio box- takes a little getting used too but a great pod

Bd- tough question to answer:)- our fishery is a high flow tailwater- Cats have an amazing sense of eyesight/lateral line/skin taste buds etc etc ( outside of sharks they have to be the most remarkably adapted to their environment of species) and are highly predatory( despite the stink bait stigma)
Given that our fishery is a tailwater/complex river( pools/riffles/current seams etc etc ) the tech we have going is very similar to /based on

I think Richard is on the right track with Raw and sizing:)- vs slide scanning there are a variety of resizing algorithms that yield various results, going up size and downsize. Not sure what PS uses , the prog I use has Lanczos 8×8 as an option which is very clean going downsize verses the basic
