Warning…consider this review accordingly…I also recommended the Eagle Claw Feather Light…and I am only an average caster at best…

The Scott “F”…which is thier fiberglass line…is really a pleasure to cast and to hold in ones hand.

Awesome, what a good looking rod.

I’ve got my eye on a G2 in five weight…but that is later down the road…I’ve already bought several fly rods this year. Gone are the days of self sacrifice, such as eating noodle cups for a month, to purchase high end fly fishing gear.  As understanding as my wife is…she does draw the line from time to time…so I have to pace myself…

I am looking at the nine foot five weight and will couple that with either the Ross Evolution or a Tibor Light Tail Water CL…

Hey Cameron, what kind of reel is that?

Nice review of the rod Morty, my impression of the F is that it is indeed a pure dry fly rod.

BD…the reel is a Tibor Spring Creek CL.

Good evening from Ann Arbor, MI.

    This winter, I also purchased a Scott F 703/3.

    PoudreRiver,

Thanks — good to be here.  I’ve actually been lurking for awhile.  This is a great board.  Doesn’t Zach do a great job?  It’s one thing to enjoy the sport of flyfishing.  It’s quite another to make it more enjoyable for others.  Zach has a knack for doing just that, especially using info tech/multimedia in so many interesting ways (e.g., images, video, this board, and good, old-fashioned writing).  Hat’s off to him.

Always run good to run into somebody with MI roots.  As for the Au Sable, yes, I do fish it — this past week, in fact.  Beautiful, beautiful river.  I fished the Holy Waters upstream from Gates (at Thendara), and I fished the North Branch.

To be honest, I’ve really taken to the Manistee River these past few years, especially upstream from Grayling (e.g., Deward).  For the first time, I fished upstream from Mancelona Rd., at the headwaters.  Wild and beautiful.

In fact, these past few years, I’ve found myself pushing farther and farther upstream, into the headwaters and creeks with which these great rivers begin — for the beauty, for the solitude.  Hence, my acquisition of the Scott F 703/3.

I’m familiar with your neck of the woods.  I have family in Loveland (serious outdoorsmen).  I’ve admired both the Poudre and the Big Thompson, though I’ve never had a chance to fish either.  Likewise, some of the water up near Walden — admired it, though without having the opportunity to fish it.

    Thanks again for your note.

    PoudreRiver,

No, I haven’t fished the Michigan.

Don…I am glad to hear that someone else is having a good experience with this fly rod.
