egg patterns

While out looking for a cheaper source for bead heads last weekend (no luck), I stopped in at Michael’s craft store and found these:

I had a small hook with me to test the beads if I found them, so I put one of the Pom Poms on the hook, and seriously couldn’t get it off.

Do they only have hot pink and green?

They’ve got yellow, pink, green, red, black, white, orange- I think that’s it.

In my opinion the orange and maybe even the red are going to be your best bet.

I have been using those things to tie

I was in Michaels yesterday and bought some of these ! The 5mm are smaller than I usually tie, so I ran a Kevlar thread through 3 of them ( red ones) and tied a cluster on a#10 hook. I also got the 10 mm and put them on a #8 egg hook. Very easy, just put a few thread wraps in the center of the shank and add a drop of super glue and slide the egg (pompom) on top of it. If it crowds the gape just trim it a little with scissors. On the Green river, we used the orange or cerise ones as an attractor and ran a dropper from the hook bend with a prince, copper john, BHFT, GRHE etc about 18″ from the egg. Works great! 😮
