The Itinerant AnglerSo one of last night’s interviews for the upcoming podcast season was with Scott Sanchez on the Jackson Hole One Fly, and his role as a fly tyer in that contest.

The Itinerant AnglerIf you’re swinging, keep ahold of the line with your off hand and periodically strip just a bit–not enough to interrupt the swing but just to animate the fly and keep your head in the game.

The Itinerant AnglerThe res of these cameras is also astounding. This thing takes a 6,016 X 4,016 pixel image natively. Ironically that is twice as large dimensionally as the D70’s 3,008 X 2000, even though the D70 was a 6MP camera and the D600 is a 24MP camera. Just shows how many pixels have to go into making up that area (anyone who has ever mowed a big lawn can relate to that).
That translates to a 20 X 13 inch image natively at 300dpi, which means I can finally turn in double truck images that will need no enlargement (this was becoming a major handicap). Most fly fishing magazines don’t print at 300 dpi, either. In American Angler’s resolution of roughly 225 dpi, that would be a 26″ X 18″ image (roughly), which actually means I could run a double truck shot from a PORTRAIT (magazines are 17″ wide) without enlargement. Which is very nice for those times when you just didn’t get the camera oriented right before something happens.
I can’t imagine dealing with the D800’s 36MP. Talk about an enormous file.

The Itinerant AnglerGreat meeting up with you and Ian, Zach. The second meadow is worth the hike by the way! Hopefully Ed will post up a few pictures for us.
Oh, Ed never lost the table all weekend…pool shark! 😉

Yeah, PSA: do not bet money with Ed Felker over pool, I don’t care how many Moose Drools he’s had.
