Hey Dan –

I think if you’ll dig a bit in the archives, you’ll find several lengthy posts on This is Fly.

[Zach Matthews]

Tim –

No, there’s not, and moreover I probably missed a few in that list.

[Zach Matthews]

I would agree with Mark, who knows what he’s talking about for sure as he’s in retail.

Hey Adam –

When it comes to an o/u versus a more practical gun, you won’t get any argument out of me, but I needed to go with that “gentleman’s gun” as you put it to support the photography I am planning to use this for.

[Zach Matthews]

I think your proximity to a good fly shop is going to be related to your proximity to good fishing, and, unfortunately, Texas is not known for its fly fishing (maybe unfairly).

[Zach Matthews]

Great job, Dave.  Really cool.  As with most things, animal shots look best when the eye is in the picture, or at least the head (if the bird’s not too messed up).  It’s possible to be artistic with dead birds but it can be challenging.  I would suggest looking for some kind of pattern to highlight, focusing tight, and using a wide aperture to blur unimportant stuff out.

Again with the tight focus and wide aperture; Lauren took this shot and I really like it.

Well, I think we need to know what you’re ordering, David, because that makes a difference to me.

[Zach Matthews]

Have you tried asking them to order it?

[Zach Matthews]

If you’re looking for a pure waterproof duffel, I’d go with a Simms Dry Creek bag.

[Zach Matthews]

Those are all good, Dave.

[Zach Matthews]

Case in point:

That’s a good looking backpack-body (way better than most of their others, which tend to be square), but look at the straps!

[Zach Matthews]

That Dakine is about as good as I’ve seen a camera backpack get.

Dave –

It will wind up being a pheasant gun eventually (which is also why I’m going with a 12 gauge).

[Zach Matthews]

Wow. Cool stuff Cor! Thanks.

[Zach Matthews]

I’m looking into a Beretta 686 or a Browning Citori.

[Zach Matthews]

O/U photographs, and in all likelihood I’ll make my money back using it for pics.

[Zach Matthews]

Thanks TC –

Any idea if they are still officially in business?

[Zach Matthews]

Neal –

C’mon man, get Bob some access on the Soque.

[Zach Matthews]

That middle picture is very cool, Neal.
