    Great job, Dave.  Really cool.  As with most things, animal shots look best when the eye is in the picture, or at least the head (if the bird’s not too messed up).  It’s possible to be artistic with dead birds but it can be challenging.  I would suggest looking for some kind of pattern to highlight, focusing tight, and using a wide aperture to blur unimportant stuff out.

    Again with the tight focus and wide aperture; Lauren took this shot and I really like it.

    Love that second shot Zach – I like the concept.

    A relatively new blog that I’m really liking is http://mouthfuloffeathers.wordpress.com/ – some great photos and writing, I only wish there was more of it.
