Are you planning on swinging with the switch rod or indicator fishing?
Although I dont have much experience with the line you are talking about, I’d imagine a SA quadtip might do the trick if you are mostly going to nymph fish but occasionally want to swing, otherwise maybe look into a SA Shorthead spey line if you want to swing and spey cast more often.
I’ve always wanted to fish the Jeff but have never gotten the chance because I have always fished out there in the summer, when the river is nothing but a trickle.

The Sage XP 11′ #6 is a great rod for big water nymphing, I’ve used one on the Tongariro river for the last few years and it’s the best rod for the big team of flies and huge indicator used there.
With a 7 weight line this thing will lift & cast a lot of weight with no fuss.I’ve seen a couple for sale second hand here in OZ in the last couple months.

I guess it’s all perspective and what you are used to, but right now I would float the Norfork any day over battling a bunch of snaggers for half dead salmon.
That’s just my 2 cents though.

Where, when, and with who are you going?
I live in the Twin Cities and fish Sconni often for steelhead and browns, but not on the Lake Michigan side, mostly the Lake Superior coast (which is the best coast).
Joel, Back to your original post, I’ve seen similar with spawning browns in Michigan.
My buddy caught this big boy in January.
I shared the story once already about this guy but just to give those who missed the earlier thread, this fish was the result of a pee break on the way to another river.
Based on the several characters mentioned above, I assuming the Shark skin make for “floating line” right? So I guess it won’t have impact to steramer fishing?
