The Muddler Minnow is my drought fly. I see fish hammered on em but couldn’t get a hit on one to save my own life.

I have a 9 1/2′ 7. It is the ultimate Great lakes steelhead rod and does it all for me. Roll cast, toss indicator/double fly rigs, streamers, you name it. Plus it is a fantastic large fish fighting tool. I hope you jumped on the deal.

Lucky, the vest is universal size with adjustments all over the place. It really is very good quality and is nice looking. It is on ebay right now and you can proabably grab it for less than half retail, which was $140.00.

Cameron, I would prefer a classic style vest and not mesh. I fish hard in the fall, winter, early spring and only mess around in the warmer months on some ponds. My only real requirements are that it has to hold a ton of stuff.

Trivia: What was the add that started all of the rod in mouth stuff?

Hint: The pic for the add was of a guy wading chest deep in a weed bed. He is holding a large pike and it is supposed to appear as though he was in the process of landing it, thus the need to put the rod in his mouth. The intent was for action, not a hero shot.

First person to get the correct answer gets a selection of my non-patented, no fail, go to egg patterns.

That is a much better way to do it than I have been.

I converted exclusively to this knot. It is the absolute best I have tried with 3,4 and 5X fluoro. Lots of fall Steelhead hooked and not one single failure at the fly.

I also really enjoy all of the catalogs. I just got L.L. Bean and Feather-Craft today.

I know I don’t have great control of the English language and shouldn’t be criticizing anyone, but the incessant use of quotations in the Feather-Craft catalog really irritates me for some reason. I wonder who in the heck edits them.

Beer: I can and will :)drink anything except Budweiser and especially Bud Light. Even one makes me sick the next day. My favorite is Dundee’s Honey Brown.

Hard stuff: I enjoy filling my hip flask with Johnnie Walker Black. As a general rule I don’t slug booze alot and just enjoy a nip once in awhile.

    Zach,

Is that the SST? It is about $125.00 more than I can spend, but would certainly have it on my short list if the cash were not limited.

[tt:r466qzkm]If I want to fish with a guy who's going to have a nasty attitude and toss out litter, I can invite someone from the local trailer park and save my money[/tt:r466qzkm].

Now that is some funny stuff…. 😀

    Creek and TC,

I am just about sold on the Orvis. I can have my local guy order it and not pay shipping and I can give him some business, which I like to do whenever I can. One of the big things I like about it is that the storm flap has snaps, not velcro. Plus, I know that Orvis customer service is second to none.

The description says that it is made from the same material as the Tailwater waders. I have never seen the waders. Is the material decently heavy? I am assuming that it is because they say that it is 4-layer.

Yes sir, that is what I am talking about. All I want is a plain old heavy duty jacket that will keep me dry. That shouldn’t be too hard in my price range, but it is.
