i’m just getting into tubeflies and have tied some simple patterns for fishing for steelhead off the beach at the mouth of the tributaries here in erie, pa. unfortunately, i haven’t gotten a chance to try them out. i will fish them using a rio sinking leader to get the fly under the surface. the comment that if you can tie on a regular hook, you can tie on a tube is definitely true.

* Hook: TMC #5262, #12-16
* Thread: 6/0 black unweighted, 6/0 brown weighted
* Weight: Fine lead wire, if desired
* Tail: Brown partridge or brown speckled hen fibers
* Body: Blend of 50% dyed brown Australian opossum and 50% orange sparkle yarn
* Wingcase: Doubled thickness of turkey tail quil
