MemberThe trillium and mayapple has started in my back yard.
When the Mayapples are out watch for Morel Mushrooms 😉  Thanks Kevin, you have helped add a piece of information to my shroom puzzle down here in the Southeast region.  Please PM me where you live.

MemberMike, I agree with you totally. Â Hope I didn’t sound flippant. Â I was more or less making an observation, similar to yours, that a lot of people get to the salt for the first few times and may have a false belief that “any” guide with a boat will do. Â There is so much more involved. Â I pay good money for guides and reserve recurring annual dates to fish because if you get a good one they will certainly put you on fish (not catching them is my fault). Â However, if I had my own boat and experience like you I think that a dyi trip would be a great way to go – that’s what I meant by every fish is money saved, or at least money earned.
I do have the ability the help you out with some spots in the area you are going. Â PM me your dates and location and I can ask some questions.
Sorry Cameron, didn’t mean to hijack your post.

MemberIf I’m going to get zeroed I’d rather it be for free.
Mike, for every fish you catch it will be like $200 free money, ha.

MemberI’m the bongwater-and-yak-piss, but I have to admit it’s only in my dreams.
Zach, that picture of the Nihilists from Lebowski is absolutely classic. Â Also, in the style of Adam Sandler – you dream of yak-piss?
Anyone good enough with photoshop to make a blended image of an old-style fly fisher merged with a new-style scruffier? Â The yak-piss in hand would make it complete.

MemberMike, that is brilliant. Â Thanks. Â I am very interested to read some of these prints. Â I have also been collecting a reading list of more modern authors but many of these older texts are used as the general reference anyway. Â Also, I didn’t know about these links – there is a lot of good information out there for free.
Also, it sounds like you have some good knowledge about fishing the older patterns and finding that they indeed work well.

MemberJay, I’m fishing the good old delayed harvest section.

MemberBrett, I expect a full report on the performance of that 10wt rod when you get back.

MemberI had a blast fishing tonight. Â Between 6pm and dark there was a moderate caddis hatch, a huge but brief midge hatch and finally a very very healthy BWO hatch. Â I caught fish wish a green wet fly on the swing, a Griffith’s gnat and a size 20 BWO parachute. Â I love spring.

MemberThanks Rich. Â I can watch this stuff all night. Â
Interesting comment on the second vid – notice how the fisherman tricks the trout to jump to an airborne fly. Â He hooks him which is something most people could only dream of doing. Â However, look closely – the first move he makes is to grab his hat and move slowly to land the fish. Â At that point my pulse would be like 150 beats per minute and my hat would be the last thing on my mind. A guy with that much calm and poise is a guy I admire.

MemberLando, thanks for the trip report, your pictures are great. Â I really like the second to the last photo, the colors of the water captured my attention. Â Was the water green tinted like that in that spot or is that a white balance issue or simply reflection? Â The reason I’m asking is that pool is very clear and not much algae for this time of year. Â I am not familiar with the water out there. How deep was it in that section?
