The long cold winter is showing signs of releasing us from its grip (OK… I know its no Montana winter but I have had enough).

Took a drive out to the center part of the state yesterday to wet a line for the first time in a while.

    Tim,
We had some BWO’s down in south central PA as well.

The fish we were into yesterday were all wild fish, so they definately knew exactly what was going on.

As to the state lab rats…my guess is they acclimate fairly quickly…a few days to to weeks maybe.

Andrew, if you don’t mind, where were you fishing? I was at the Codorus in the special regs section yesterday and didn’t see a bug fly. I did see some little black stones two weeks ago when we had those two 60-70 degree days but nothing since.

And to answer your question about the stockers.

John – no problem at all.

We fish a spring creek here in S.E. Pa, all year and the winter is our favorite time. We started January 2nd and as of the first of March, the BWO’s have been on.

I had a blast fishing tonight.  Between 6pm and dark there was a moderate caddis hatch, a huge but brief midge hatch and finally a very very healthy BWO hatch.  I caught fish wish a green wet fly on the swing, a Griffith’s gnat and a size 20 BWO parachute.  I love spring.

Where in GA? I’ve fished the Chattahoochee everyday this week after school from 4 to 6 and still haven’t seen a big hatches comparable to the caddis hatches at the beginning of the month. Today I got two 13+ browns on a #18 elk wing caddis. Yesterday I caught four on a #18 parachute adams.
