MemberGlad to see i’m not the only one feeling that way. Sometimes i get so frustrated because i can’t get good pictures or they don’t turn out as good as i think they did when i took the shot.
I agree that some of the pictures that are posted on here i simply would never catch.

MemberWow those are some incredible pictures. Jealousy is the official mood of the day now.

MemberThanks for the great report and pics. I personally loved your pictures keep up the great work.

MemberYes sir that is it. It is one of the better streams in the park and a good choice for a get together. Here are some pictures of the stream i took in may up at the second campsite up the trailhead.

This is from a different trip, but nice fish nonetheless.

MemberDeep creek is a fairly large stream, even miles up from the campground. I would definitely bring a longer rod if you have one. A 7′ or smaller rod would be way too short for this stream, at least in its lower portions. When i get home i will attach some pics of the stream to give you an idea of what it looks like.

MemberThe 5d is a great looking piece, i hope to upgrade to that one day.
The only complaint i have about the 5d, and it’s minor, is that it’s still using the old chip in it while the 50d receives the new one, kinda weird.

MemberThat is a heck of a smallie, great job.
You are the third person to speak highly of the axiom, i may look into that one.

MemberIt is definitely overkill for the smokies unless it rains and muddies up the water that way you can throw giant streamers.
Honestly, i would say my ideal rod for the smokies is a 9′ 4wt, however i know many people that love 5wts.
Deep creek has some extremely large browns even up close to brookie water, there are some 20″+ browns out there that would give any rod, even a 6wt., a heck of a fight. You could definitely use one but the majority of the fish you catch will be under 12″ so it may be a bit much. That is my opinion for what it is worth.
If you get a hold of one of those “long as your arm” trout then you may want your 6wt.

MemberVery nice photos, must have been a wonderful trip.
I especially like the one of the impala.

MemberYeah i’m afraid that it may be too early but i really had my hopes on getting into some cutthroats, at least one day.
Thanks for all your help, i will most likely call brf sometime soon.

MemberPresentation is probably more important than anything. You can usually always catch fish on an attractor pattern if there are no hatches.
Like aaron said, the october caddis may be out by that point, but definitely don’t forget the bwo’s. There is a good bet they will be hatching as well and the fish really love to snatch up the emergers when they do, even the bigger browns.

MemberShe enjoys fishing alot and is actually excited about a float trip. We also plan to do a backpacking trip one day, but she doesn’t want to do that on our honeymoon and understandably so.
As far as the places that i want to fish, i would like to try the second meadow of slough in the ne corner and bechler in the sw corner. Now i know it’s a little early but hopefully they won’t be swollen over the banks. I really want to get into some cutts.
There are also a couple more reasons i figured on somewhere close to the nw corner. One, it’s close to livingston and bozeman where i can take her to eat and shopping if she chooses for a day or so. Second, we are planning on doing some hiking in the park and i know the sw corner has alot of waterfalls so i figured we would go hiking there.
Thanks for all your help, i really appreciate it.

MemberYeah if it wasn’t our honeymoon we’d either be staying in a place like that or in a campground. Luckily, she’s outdoorsy so future trips will be in a place like that but i figured i better find a nice place for our honeymoon so i don’t hear about it forever.
Thanks for the advice i will give them a call sometime. Thinking about getting a floated guide trip, i’m guessing go with them for that as well?

MemberAgreed, the trouthugger shirt is neat! Definitely a different approach, it’s good to see someone trying it.

MemberI’ve heard great things about tfo rods and i forgot to mention that i’m also looking at them as well. Many people i know have purchased tfo rods for trout and say they are just as good as some of their more expensive rods.

MemberPersonally, i like both designs although the new design does seem to be a little cleaner. I don’t really see how you find time to do all this, though. I struggle getting mine decent and it isn’t nowhere near as professional looking.
Writing all that code drives me crazy sometimes.
mtnman2888
MemberThanks y’all, i will look into all suggestions. I was looking at the sage rod and also scott and orvis’ options. I really need to go cast a few sometime soon so i can get into those bronze backs before it gets too cold.
mtnman2888
MemberThanks for the advice, i got alot of info to cipher through!
I actually prefer a slower action rod for trout, but i figured i would need a little faster action rod for smallies.
If anyone knows the area, i will most likely be fishing rivers the size of the french broad, south toe, and new river (in nc and va).
mtnman2888
MemberNo problem at all, every little bit of advice helps. Thanks everyone for all your help, i’ll let you know what i end up getting and show some pics when i get out in the field.
mtnman2888
MemberI understand and agree with most everything stated and i appreciate your help and advice. I guess i really do need a wide angle lense that is capable of taking good pictures in low light seeing as how i take most of my pictures on the stream underneath a tight canopy.
