MemberFor Photobucket users, how do you keep your images from being stolen and used on other websites and the such?
John Pavoncello
MemberAgain, Photoshelter is the safest way to archive your images. DVD’s and hard drives will fail, On-Line archiving with a company that uses four different servers in four parts of the country is the best way to ensure you will have your images when you need them. Plus, you don’t have to worry about swapping drives, finding suitable storage space for them, etc.
I do burn a dvd and keep an external drive here at the home office, but I do not rely on them for archiving.John Pavoncello

MemberThe price of gas should be affecting my fishing but in the past two nights, I drove 2 hours round trip each night to get in one hour of good fishing during the sulphur hatch on the LeTort.

MemberI have, in the past, provided photos for a credit line. The only reason I would ever do that now is for non-profits and then only if they gave me a receipt for an amount equal to the going rate so that it would be a donation.
By giving away free photos, especially to any, ANY, publication that collects advertising revenue, or to a company that is using the photos to advertise or otherwise generate sales, you are adding to the never ending cycle of lower photography rates.John Pavoncello
MemberChris,
I’ll take the GPX if you still have it.John Pavoncello
MemberThe cards are just as new as the cameras. All brand new 8gig Extremes. I’m at a loss to help him and Canon is making any effort either. Amazing, in the past two months they’ve purchased about $50grand worth of Canon gear and Canon tells him it’s a software problem.

MemberDusty,
For less than $1000 you can pick up a used 20D or 30D. Much better choice then the Rebel. Look to KEH or on Sportsshooter.comJohn Pavoncello
MemberTim,
email me one of your full res, raw images and I’ll open it and check out the exif for you.I’m betting on the settings being off too.

MemberLee – the acceptance issue relates to the Photoshelter Collection which is different and seperate from each photogs personal archive. The Collection was put together to offer photography editors and buyers a more streamlined search of only the highest quality images.
Where anyone can purchase and set up a PS archive (doesn’t matter what quality), the collection are images that are deemed the best quality and saleability by the PS editors. Nothing different then having images accepted by Magnum, Getty, etc.John Pavoncello
MemberKendal,
PS is hooked up with a print company, can’t remember off the top of my head who it is, but what’s cool is that if someone orders a print from your PS gallery, the print company handles the whole deal and you collect the $$$. I did a pricing structure that ensured I’d make a decent profit from the print sale and let them handle all the printing and shipping needs.

MemberSorry I haven’t responded, haven’t had the time to scroll this far down on the page and see the posts.
I’ve been a PS member for almost 2 years. My total sales so far have been about $1000. That has more than paid for the 2 years of service. I recently got a sale for FHM Germany, something I would have never gotten without PS.
I really only use it for the on-line archiving capabilities. Two years ago, I lost over 1000 raw images from a trip to Colorado when my external hard drive failed a week after the trip. I never backed the stuff up on CD and lost everything.John Pavoncello
MemberChad,
I’ll be out your way in July. We have friends that live in Sadelia and we’ll be there for 2 weeks. -
