Very Nice.  Thanks for sharing.  I really like the closeup on the Golden Dorado! And the local boy in the front of the canoe.

I’ll second Fly Fishing Fool.  I enjoyed it very much, even if I did have to pull out the dictionary at least once on several chapters.  It forced me to take my time and savor it.

    Wow.

in reply to: Drive time to fishing grounds? #38787

For trout (which is really what I love) 1 hour 15 minutes drive one way and it is the only year round trout fishery in the state of Texas – otherwise buy a plane ticket and it is about 8 hours away ;D.

For bass/panfish and warmwater species, 15-30 minutes.

Salt for redfish, ladyfish, sea trout, is a 4 hour drive away (I try that casualy about once a year).

    Good Question.

in reply to: Photo Essay: Yellowstone #38608

Every tourist visiting Yellowstone should be required to watch the people vs. animal encounter videos on the NPS website

    http://www.nps.gov/yell/photosmultimedia/safetyvideos.htm

It would stop a lot of the stupidity and carelessness.

    In Jackson, WY:

Merry Piglets – As Zach mentioned – good Mexican.  1 block N town square

The Bunnery – soups, sandwiches, etc.  1 block N town square

Jeddidiah’s House of Sourdough – Awesome breakfast!! 1 block East of Town Square

Bubba’s BBQ– great breakfast, and good BBQ etc at lunch & dinner.  South of town next door to the Orvis Store

Gun Barrel Steak House – Great steaks etc.  more pricey.  South side of town down by the Albertsons

Mangy Moose at Teton Village – Somewhat pricey, but you got to do it.  Steaks, salads, spuds, wine, it’s all good.  Reward yourself after coming out of the back country and roughing it.

Jenny Lake Lodge – In GTNP – best view of Mt. Teewinot from your table.  Go at lunch and it is really affordable.  Be sure to make a reservation several days in advance and dress decently.

Dornan’s – Moose, WY  panckaes and sausage breakfast out doors or in the tent with view of the Teton Range.  No frills, not expensive as I remember it.

Cadillac Grill – nice and probably a little pricey as I remember it.  Next door is their burger shop.  Best burger and shake in Jackson.

in reply to: Sneaky Snake #38428

Lauren, You and my wife would get along just fine.  I call her the snake magnet.  I have rarely run into snakes on my own out hunting or fishing.  Yet, when I am with my wife fishing, we ARE going to see a snake. 😛  And have on multiple occasions.  I have seen more snakes with her over the 4 1/2 years we’ve been together than I ever did in my life up till we met.

    Wow Tim.

    Brett,

I especially like your composition on #8 and #9.  They really appeal to me.  Beautiful country.  Nice job.

If you don’t mind me asking, what camera settings were you using for these shots (Manual, Landscape, AV, Auto)?  Are you shooting RAW, or are these straight JPEGS?

One suggestion you can do to really make your images pop and saturate the colors, is to invest in a circular polarizer and experiment with it.  It will also make your skies a deeper blue and improve the capture/ contrast in the clouds.

    Cool shot Will.

Really enjoyed the pics.  You really give a ‘feel’ for Alaska life through your images Corey.
