I’ve been itching to break out the macro creative flash gear after Will’s recent posts and discussions about bug flash. I had the opportunity to shoot tonight and it was such a glorious break from reality. I was inspired when I saw this cool green spider with lots of baby spiders on a white flower during the golden hour. The ring light was already set up from an earlier shoot, so I just grabbed a makeshift reflector and snooted one of the micro flashes and had at it. Fortunately, none of the neighbors saw me prowling around the flower garden with the crazy paraphernalia.
Mamma Spider

Micro Flowers (each is less than 1/2″ and smaller than my pinky fingernail). Kinda tough to shoot stopped down (my comfort zone) when the light is rapidly fading. However, the compensated opened f-stop outcomes are kind of artsy to me, what do you think?

Over the top flash compensation and vibrance/saturation done in-camera.
