Glad you enoyed it Doug. I haven’t seen the full segement yet. RA does an amazing job telling a story with his editing and videography and I’m really excited to see what he did with it.

Based on my experiences here are a couple of ideas. The Jackson, WY area would give you a ton of options for waters big and small. Snake, South Fork of the Snake, Henry’s Fork, Teton etc. etc. I was out there last summer and the fishing in July was nothing short of spectacular. Check out the Idaho side of the Tetons (Victor or Driggs) for places to stay and you’ll probably find it’s a lot cheaper than Jackson.
There’s a lot going on in Montana and I don’t think you could really go wrong, but if you get a chance to fish the Madison, do it, it’s a pretty incredible fishery. The list goes on and on but just thought I’d throw some ideas out. Let us know what you decide on!

Every disco midge I have seen has been a krystal flash body in a variety of colors with a peacock herl head, sometimes with a bead. Good pattern, I like olive and black.

I second that Neal. My boss this summer was a very well traveled angler and a total permit fanatic. Hearing him talk about fishing for them was inspiring. Definitely a different breed of angler.

I’m certainly not an authority but I have a couple of years of midge fishing under my belt at this point, and I’ve also done a good deal of reading on the subject. I’d say getting the proportions and color to be accurate for the stage you’re trying to immitate is probably the most important thing (larva vs. pupa vs. emerger etc.) I’m curious to hear what some of the oher guys thoughts are.
