    Have two St. Croix Avids

8’6″ 5wt. My all-purpose flyrod that I do 80 percent of my fishing with. Love the casting ability and the feel of the rod. I just realyy like St. Croix in general….If I could afford another one to add to the collection it woud be a two weight…..do they make a two weight….LOL….Im going to check right after this post…..Btw, I also have a 9’6″ 7 wt flyrod that I use for steelhead….great rod!!!

I’d have to say that the rod that I do the most fishing with is my St. Croix Avid 8’6″ 5 wt. I fish mainly the streams of PA and it gets me where I need to be in most cases. If I’m fishing off the jack damn on Dunbar Creek I take my Sage VT2 3 wt which I find to be a nice rod. 😎

Hey Seafood…I can’t agree more with my tradition being the same as your on “opening day..” My best friend and I, who have been fishing together since we were 8, Baitfish for trout!!! I know, I know…sacrlige…but my friend hasn’t yet been sold on the greatness of the fly and we have been going to the same place for about 15 years…so I can’t break tradition….i cook and we have a pretty good time talking about fishing and quoting the movie JAWS like we did when we were kids…Then the next day I’ll get my fly gear and head to Dunbar to catch some of those beautiful brookies from the stream…Tite Lines

Zach-That is great having a year round season in GA. Fortunately we have lots of delayed harvest sections in PA that permit year round or almost year round fishing with catch and release and flyfishing only rules implied.

There are some pretty awesome answers here on this thread!!! ;D personally, I have fished a private owned stretch of trout stream up in the mountains of Southwest PA….My uncle is a member and so are a couple of his friends…the price is rights at about 40 dollars for 12 hours of fishing(For TU members, the price is slightly higher for nonmembers) The entire stream is fishable with hippers only and the campfire and pavillion at the entry of the camp amke for a nice day on the water. The stream manager is an extremely helpful person in selecting flies and what equipment to use. I don’t go often, but it makes for a nice trip. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

    Small Streams-Sage VT2 7’9″ 3wt.
Medium Streams to large streams-Orvis Power Matrix 8’6″ 4wt.
    Lake Erie Steelhead-St Croix Avid 9’6″ 7wt

-I am however saving for either a Sage Z-Axis 8’6″ 4wt. or a Scott G2 8’8″ 4wt. I cast both of them and they are friggin sweet!!!

I own one of the previous Superfine’s with the burgundy blank and I love it. I matched it with a English made CFO and it has made one heck of a small stream rod!! It’s the model that was considered the Trout Bum-7′ and 4wt…..Anyway, I was at my local flyshop yesterday and decided to cast a New Orvis Trout Bum-6’6″ 3WT and man was that thing lifeless!!! It took a lot of effort I felt to cast and soon after the manager brough over a TFO that was 300 bucks cheaper and it cast like a dream…I don’t care for the way these new rods cast and don’t think I’ll picking one up soon…
