MemberI just arrived back down here a few days ago. Typically we are in a cargo plane for the ride in from New Zealand, and the view isn’t all that great (no windows). This time was different, however, and we were treated to spectacular views of the continent.

MemberThanks Corey! I really appreciate the compliment!

MemberUgghh, those images look really terrible after being run through photobucket for hosting. I may have to start just uploading them from now on.

MemberCooler temps and big tides coincided this week. Redfish like that.
Took my buddy who was hoping to get his first on fly, he ended up catching a few.

It got really dark and I took the bow for a minute…

Then the wife and I got an early start one morning, headed to a flat that’s been good to me lately. It was her first time chasing tailers with the flyrod, having only received one casting lesson. Her casting needs work…

But she spots them well.

Conditions were perfect, and there were fish feeding aggressively all around. Tailing. Cruising. Just plain bashing everything.

She took a quick break…

I’ve never seen so many fish in one tide session before. Some of the wife’s casts were accurate enough, just seemingly always 10′ short and we wouldn’t get an eat. The water began to fall so we rode back to the ramp to get breakfast, having enjoyed a lowcountry morning in all it’s glory.

Some of the best shrimp and grits around…

That is all.

MemberWhat up Lando. Good to see you around these parts.

MemberJack, I was with Lucas when he and Ariel dropped off some gear last year, I believe it was for a Cuba trip?
Small world, indeed! I’ll be headed back through Christchurch in early October.
Jeremy Clark
MemberThanks guys!
I’ve been going down there for a number of years now, I believe this year makes 8 seasons in a row. It truly is the most incredible place I’ve ever been and I’ve been blessed to find my way into a gig like this.
Zach, I provide air traffic control support to the United States Antarctic Program. We support all the science that takes place on the continent, with the operating season being late September through early March. I don’t deploy that entire time as I have a counterpart with whom I split the season.
Roy – From what I understand, there is more than 10,000′ of ice at the pole. With MSL being 9000+ that means that terra firma is actually below sea level there. I’ve heard it said, though can’t confirm, that the reason it is below sea level the immense weight of the ice lying on top of it.

MemberThanks Zach, found that shed on a river I was fishing in NZ a few years ago. First red stag shed I’d come across.
I was caught up pretty badly in the Christchurch earthquake a couple of years ago, and that shed was in the trunk of the rental. The parking garage collapsed and took the car with it. 3 months later I get a box on the doorstep with a bunch of gear (and that shed) in it. Avis recovered some of the items in the trunk and mailed them to me…

MemberIt’s a Lostmen, made by East Cape.
Jeremy Clark
MemberIt looked bad, but never stormed, just a lot of wind.
We do cast and blast trips every fall when marsh hens opens. Won’t be long now!
Jeremy Clark
MemberI’ll play.
Not really sure why, after seeing Jay’s submissions. Holy crap those are fantastic!

Looking back, I’ve taken a paltry few photos this year… I need to remedy that!
Jeremy Clark
MemberWent back on my own this time. Well, I took Jasper along. He’s no good at poling, though I’ve tried teaching him…

Jeremy Clark
MemberThat Lostmen is a friend’s. It is not tippy at all, and poles far skinnier than some other big name skiffs I’ve been in.
There’s not many places my Gheenoe will go that the Lostmen won’t…
Jeremy Clark
MemberThat’s an East Cape Lostmen.
Jeremy Clark
MemberWhere does one get an IA hat?
Jeremy Clark
MemberThanks guys!

MemberThanks Tim!
Hope your summer is going well!

MemberI’ve really only spent time fishing in Canterbury and Southland regions. I pass through Christchurch each year on my way to work in Antarctica and up until a couple of years ago had only fished within a couple of hours of the city. I’ve since branched out with the help of some friends I’ve met along the way and been fortunate to fish some incredible water!
Here are some of the pics I tried to put up in my first post…

MemberThanks Tim.
I fish on the south island when I’m there. I heard about that poor bloke who came cross with the whitey up your way.
