MemberMy mom and her husband were in town for a few days and there just so happened to be some great tides for reds in the grass.
Though I tried, I couldn’t get them to connect with any fish. We had some willing players but the casts just weren’t there. As the water was dropping out we took a moment to crack open a beer and take in the surroundings. The light was great, and I pulled out the camera only to find I’d committed a total amateur move by not having a card in it – I had to resort to a few cell phone pics. They actually turned out alright, I think, and I wanted to share them here.
Cheers,

The Itinerant AnglerThose are really cool. What kind of skiff is that you’re poling?

The Itinerant AnglerHuh, I typed a post earlier but it must not have gone through. I saw an East Cape Fury at the local lake the other day – the fit and finish on those boats is terrific. I know the initial knock was that they were “tippy” (although that’s probably just because they were nearly micro-skiffs in size back when the company was East Cape Canoes). But there didn’t look to be anything tippy about the Fury – long boat, a little skinny side to side but all around very nice.

MemberThat Lostmen is a friend’s. It is not tippy at all, and poles far skinnier than some other big name skiffs I’ve been in.
There’s not many places my Gheenoe will go that the Lostmen won’t…

MemberWent back on my own this time. Well, I took Jasper along. He’s no good at poling, though I’ve tried teaching him…

The Itinerant AnglerCool photos! Looks like you might have had some ugly weather.
Jeremy have you ever tried to do a cast and blast with marsh hens? Season opens in September if I recall correctly and I thinking about a trip down around Jekyll to try it.

MemberIt looked bad, but never stormed, just a lot of wind.
We do cast and blast trips every fall when marsh hens opens. Won’t be long now!

MemberCooler temps and big tides coincided this week. Redfish like that.
Took my buddy who was hoping to get his first on fly, he ended up catching a few.

It got really dark and I took the bow for a minute…

Then the wife and I got an early start one morning, headed to a flat that’s been good to me lately. It was her first time chasing tailers with the flyrod, having only received one casting lesson. Her casting needs work…

But she spots them well.

Conditions were perfect, and there were fish feeding aggressively all around. Tailing. Cruising. Just plain bashing everything.

She took a quick break…

I’ve never seen so many fish in one tide session before. Some of the wife’s casts were accurate enough, just seemingly always 10′ short and we wouldn’t get an eat. The water began to fall so we rode back to the ramp to get breakfast, having enjoyed a lowcountry morning in all it’s glory.

Some of the best shrimp and grits around…

That is all.

MemberUgghh, those images look really terrible after being run through photobucket for hosting. I may have to start just uploading them from now on.
