Thanks for taking the time to watch the video Bob. Glad you like it. It was shot on the DJI Phantom Pro. Image stabilization is built into the drone. The 4k Sony camera sits on a gimbal and provides excellent image stabilization. Color grading was done in Adobe Premiere CC. It has been a lot of fun learning the Arial stuff. We plan to release a bunch more footage when we can.

The high speed retouching is something I do every now and again. I speed up the footage so you can see my workflow. The one you watched probably took me about 25 minutes.

If there are specific things you would like to see let me know and I would be happy to put together another video. I have been meaning to do more of them and it is something I will try and do more of in 2016.

Have a great New Year. Keep up the great work and shooting.

Yes. I have been shooting video and photos with it in my studio. I’ve been impressed with the results.

Ahh you are fine Mark. I do not take offense. It is a valid point and topic, definitely worthy of discussion.

I hope my enthusiasm and love for the trips I take each year bleed through in the images I occasionally share. I do not get to do it nearly as much as I would like to.

I share your sentiments with fish swimming off to see another day. Always trying to be ready for the C L I C K.

Problem with the Lily Camera is its lack of battery time and it is not swappable. (With only 20 minutes of in-flight time and a two hour charge).

    Waterproof though….

I recently saw a certain promo vid for Peacock Bass and the Drone hit the water deck on it’s first flight. I bet they had wished it was water proof 🙂

    I am curious.

How many of the “hero” fish make it back to the water properly?

    All of them.

So many shots with the bravado fishing dudes swilling beer or fish holding babes with the perfected lighting and proper depth of field and balanced fill light and the conquering grin from said angler properly propped out with with stick in hand or the perfectly timed drip of water falling off the fish with the sun perfectly positioned on the horizon…..

Thanks for the compliment. Going into a shoot knowing how its going to be done prior to actually doing it, is much different from the typical spray and pray.

I have my gear, my backdrop, my models, and my vision nailed down. Photographing it all only takes a few seconds. Landing them is another story. #1clickimagery

Some people dream about landing fish,
I dream about how I will photograph them.

Thanks Tim. Definitely a worthy place to put on the bucket list. Great surrounding community of fisherman!

Thanks Jason. Often, people take the time to view the imagery however, it is nice to see someone take the time to stop and comment. I always appreciate your feedback.

Have a great weekend! Hope it is one filled with finz.

Thanks Zach. This was actually a 14 mile round trip hike into Yellowstone country 🙂 . It was a great trip, hike and something I look forward to this coming year again.

Merry Christmas. One of these days if I ever get out your way, it would be fun to stick a few with you!

The spot lighting was created with the trees that were stream side on the far bank. It was ridiculous light. The light coming in on the far left in the black and white was done in post.

Here is a another shot with the same lighting. You can see the interesting bars of shadow it creates on the water:

Love your trout shot above. Cool stuff!

Beautiful shots Zach! I have been doing a lot of the same. The 50 sure is a fun lens. I love the 85 1.8 as well. Thanks for sharing!

in reply to: Question Re: Printing photos #88217

Most SLR’s have the ability to capture both RAW + JPG when you are shooting.

I do not use this option that much however, it can be useful when you do not want to spend time converting the RAW file to JPG after import.

My rule for knowing when to shoot RAW vs JPG is something like this:

If I am shooting any kind of paid gig or I am on the water and I feel the images could be used for potential print opportunities I shoot RAW. If I am going to be printing anything larger than an 11×16 I always shoot RAW if I know this going into any shoot.

I shoot JPEG when I am at little league games or taking quick snapshots for the web.

The majority of my shooting now is RAW because when I do break out the SLR it is mostly for paid work. Having the flexibility to convert, edit in this format prior to print or client delivery is essential. Anything else I turn the setting to JPEG.

    Hope that helps.

Just one thing I will add that Colvin mentioned about Color Correction….

Do some homework and print a few of your photos with and without photo color correction. I will often opt out of color correction depending on the lab I am working with. The results can vary extremely.

Professional labs will have software and Print tools you can often download to create a print profile to ensure that the final printed product matches with your color settings viewed on your monitor.

Right on Bryan. Your photo links appear to have been moved so we are unable to view them. Sounds like a fun trip. Hopefully you can re-link your images for us.

I recently received the iPhone Plus+. I am experimenting with it (more in the studio right now) and I hope to take some fall shots and video with it during this Fall Season.

    Thanks for dropping in!
