AAHHH, The joys of opening day!!! Being from western Pa myself, I can share a lot of similar stories. Truely is something you out-of-staters should come see once! Drunks falling out of canoes/boats, fights over ugly stocked trout and my personal favorite. The guy that hooks himself [smiley=laugh.gif]!! I have seen a lot of crazy stuff happen on the water in April here in Pa, but most of the crazies are gone by May.
I try to fish a least twice a month, so the season really doesn’t close for me. Troutbum74, I may see you @ Dunbar on Sat, I have managed to free up a few hours in the morning and will be fishing the project water somewhere. PM me if you want to meet up.

Golf? Never heard of it, is it a fishing show or something? 😀

I’m pretty sure the club you just mention is where my friend is taking the kids to this year.

    Guys,

This is a very good question and all the replies are very interesting. I agree with what Zach said in his last post, to me though, there are good clubs and there are bad ones. I live in western Pa, and I have fished the Little J and what Donny “JACKASS” Beaver did there was just wrong! I do believe he gave a black eye to a lot of clubs that do not pratice what he does. I have been helping a friend of mine who teaches some high school kids to tie/fly fish. He annully takes the kids to a club to fish, no way better to get a kid hooked on flyifshing( or fishing in general) than to let them fish for the pigs and catch a few fish like that in a controlled enviroment like that of a club.
Now would I join a private club? Even if I became weathly the answer is NO. This sport is not about catching fish to me. Don’t get me wrong, catching a big fish from time to time is nice, but just being able to fish is rewarding enough!

PS. We should start a poll on this subject.

No never fished them, heck never seen anything like them before. Don’t look too hard to tie, will have to try them out.

    Great pics!
I really need to get back to the Smokey’s. I was blessed by my lovely wife on our honeymoon, she surprised me with a guided trip there. That is a beatiful place and not a bad place to fish either. Thanks for sharing.

    Eric & Paul,

I was thinking of the Little J or Yellow Cr. this year. There are others, but that’s the two I have in mind.
Eric, I will be up to help with the painting on one or two days this week. I will have a paint brush and a 5wt with me! Not sure what days, but I’ll let you know.

I agree with Peddler, but that’s my opinion and we know everyone has one! I have a few friends who like the bright stuff and they usually out fish me. So go with what you like and feel comfortable with.
