Creepy. I was fishing in NM this weekend, oblivious to what had happened until I made it back home yesterday! I carry hollow-point/tactical “bear protection” whenever I venture out. I found my self in an uncomftable situation a few years back when fishing in a wilderness area not far from the Mexico border with no cell reception and have carried ever since.
“I like Scott rods primarily because they tend to be a bit softer actioned than the equivalent being made by most other manufacturers, and I prefer a more flexible rod.
Copper Johns in a variety of colors (including black) and Hare’s Ear, the fly f/k/a prince is a another favorite.

I keep the cell handy for emergencies only….
Last year I spent 7 nights backpacking with no cells, mp3’s or radios…we had no contact with outside world….it was one of the best experiences of my life but I must admit it took at least a day or two to get comfy not looking at my iPhone every 5 minutes.
