Great news! However it hasn’t stopped anyone before. Hopefully it is enforced enough to get the message out.
Great tie! The eyes look like they are made from glass beads. Did you make them or purchase? I love tying toads, just wish I was able to fish them more.
I am also a Pentax W90 user and I’m very pleased. As a complete amateur it does what I need with basic options and is tough as hell.

The good news is the hats have come in. The bad news is they are all misprinted in the wrong color. I am working on it now.

A guy in Atlanta just started making these.
Local fish seem to like it, and he makes it in black/gold.
And…. The Hooch still has some big ones too. Netted this guy last November while volunteering on a GaDNR survey. Another volunteer is holding the fish after measurement.

You are correct, the Buford Dam tailwater has a stable population of naturally reproducing browns. I think Zach was specifically referring to the stockers because they are far more susceptible to predation than wild fish. Stripers would probably improve the brown trout fishery. I don’t think MF will be removed for quite some time, but its fun to think about.
I heard from an engineer at Ga Power that Morgan falls facility is always in the red as it barely produces any power. They have looked into shutting it down and removing the dam but found that it would be more expensive to remove it than run it at a loss for 10+ years. Flood control was also a concern. Pretty awesome thread on striper stomach contents (other salty species as well) on that forum. Big fish will eat anything, including squid.

In that picture the bat doesn’t show any physical signs of the disease. My dissertation is on the causative agent Geomyces destructans and I knew you were located somewhere in the south, thus my concern. Tenn and NC are the southern edge of the epidemic right now, but the disease is spreading at an unbelievable rate. Alabama and Texas have particularly large bat populations and if WNS reaches theses states it could have a major impact on agricultural efforts. Anyway, cool pics and hopefully the bat activity was just due to the odd weather.

The bat could have White Nose Syndromehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_nose_syndrome. What state do you live in? WNS is a serious wildlife epidemic and USFWS will want to know if this is in a previously undocumented area. The disease was first identified in bats flying during daylight in late winter.

Very cool Gary. Thats the first fly like that I have even seen. Did you come up with that tie or reproduce the technique?

I second the Fish Hawk. Very extensive fly selection, and a pretty good selection of tying materials.
I like seeing Georgia get some attention, particularly the Shoal Bass. Best sport fish nobody knows about.
I consider Texas southwestern. The south ends at the Mississippi river.
Thanks guys. The Magic head causes the fly to wiggle side-to-side the way a fish actually swims. I have seen the top cut, but as Neal mentioned if you are not precise with your cut the fly will move in an unnatural manner. Those are cool Neal, I will have to check them out too.

I have a couple of prints of trout that are pretty cool. I spoke with him for a while at SummerFest in Virginia-Highlands and he said he does “trophy-impressions” for people all the time. You have to mail him the frozen fish, he does several impressions and lets you pick your favorite. He had some striper impression framed with the malled fly that they were caught on that were pretty awesome.
