MemberZac, great report. I can’t wait to read more. Also the pictures are outstanding. I am retiring in a month, if you need an old mule to carry your pack, give me a call. 😉 My jobs were never this much fun.

MemberI tried to use some of the fur from my pets but the stuff was to stiff to use on small flies. Great color though! Maybe someone can come up with Aussi under fur gray. ::)

MemberIt has been great here in PA Dave. Great pictures too! I’ve been able to explore new places without to many others, just fish. We better enjoy it while we can 😀 cause we all know how quick it can change around here.

MemberGrant, thanks for the link to that interesting article. I passed it on to others who will find it interesting too. If you find anymore info on Marcellus drilling, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,

MemberDavid, I have been using a jacket I bought from Feather craft and I really love it. Here is a link to the jacket http://www.feather-craft.com/wecs.php?store=feacraft&action=display&target=EW386
The price is right and I really like the quality. If you get one, order your exact size because they are very full cut.

Memberfrom what I have read, some people think that big flies, like an articulated fly can be, will get bitten from the head more than the tail so removing the back hook is not a problem. Other people I have sopken to say the trailer hook is definitely needed.
I am currently tying articulated wooly boogers to get the feel of tying this type of fly. We will see how Mr. Brown trout likes it?Kelly Galloup made that statement in his video on articulated flies. If I remember correctly, he felt that large predators could attach and eat larger pray easier if they strike it from the front or a quartering head strike.
I have seen brown trout strike my articulated wooly bugger from the front and it is really something to see. They really liked the olive ones best. 😉bill heffner
MemberI put a very small amounts of dubbing on dry with nothing added. If I need a bigger body I just build it up with dubbing and thread. If I need to make a smaller, tighter, body, I use a little water that I keep in a cup instead of licking my fingers.
I saw a video once where the tyer said that the dubbing should float in the air and not drop on the table. Then you have the proper amount of dubbing for the fly you are tying.bill heffner

MemberCameron,
If someone already has “Midge Magic” would this still be a good addition to his library? Does this book offer something different than “Midge Magic”?
D.Dusty,
I just received this book from Amazon a few days ago, and I think it is a good addition to my fly fishing book collection. There a many patterns in the new book and some fishing tips and instruction in the second section. Do you really need it? No. Do you want it for your library? Yes. Now I have this book, Midge Magic, and Tying Small Flies in my library. 😉 Where can I get more HOOKS?!!! 😀

MemberYep, what Morsie said… it does sound like you are using too much weight for the length you have between the nymph and the indicator… either lengthen the tippet or lighten the fly depending on the circumstances… this can change from pool to pool, run to run and riffle to riffle and is half the fun of nymphing.
Clark is right. you always have to make adjustments when nymphing. I try to have about 6 to 8 inches between my fly and my first weight. Then you can stagger your weight like the center pin guys do. I also try to keep as mush line off the water as possible to eliminate drag. There are many styles of nymphing, one style will not fit all conditions. That is the fun of nymphing!! 😀

MemberI always look forward to the photos. Outstanding images all around.
I was really impressed with the video of the women fly fishing on the river. That girl should could really handle that drift boat. They really do a great job with all the pictures and the videos.
