Cameron MortensonMemberIt is always great to have a package waiting at the door and tonight was no exception. My friend Mike Boward sent me a copy of Rick Takahashi and Jerry Hubka’s new book, MODERN MIDGES.

I’ve always prided myself as a midge tier but this book is telling me otherwise. Hundreds of midge flies with photographs and fly recipes. There is a lot of excellent information in this book.
Amazon.com has discounted this book from $39.95 to $26.37. The book is worth $40…but if you can get it for cheaper than I’d jump on it.

MemberCameron,
If someone already has “Midge Magic” would this still be a good addition to his library? Does this book offer something different than “Midge Magic”?

D.Dusty,
I just received this book from Amazon a few days ago, and I think it is a good addition to my fly fishing book collection. There a many patterns in the new book and some fishing tips and instruction in the second section. Do you really need it? No. Do you want it for your library? Yes. Now I have this book, Midge Magic, and Tying Small Flies in my library. 😉 Where can I get more HOOKS?!!! 😀

Cameron MortensonMemberDusty…the last time I did a book offer on T.F.M. I think I sold three books…so I hadn’t even thought of doing it again.

MemberHey guys,
I haven’t even seen the book yet, just a few pages on the Amazon web site.
I have a few patterns listed in the book and was wondering if anyone else on this board has patterns in the book?Juan

MemberCam,
Thanks and yes I am happy to be included in this book. Rick and Jerry are great guys and did a very nice job on this book. This will be the midge bible that people use for reference in the future. I got Rick and Jerry to sign my book and several other contributors to sign as well. We were at the FFR show this weekend in Denver and it was like when you get your yearbook and everyone sign it. It was fun.

That’s Rick on the left and Jerry on the right.
Pat Dorsey is in the background.

MemberI had the chance to watch Rick tie for about 2 1/2 hours a couple of weeks ago (at an event I believe Juan helped set up). I agree that the book is amazing, but listening to Rick as a storyteller during the demo was even better.
He did mention that the first run of their book is now sold out.
