My daughter is going to have our second granddaughter in August so I will have plenty of time to fish with her big sister.
Enjoy the moments because they grow up so fast. 😉

MemberI think Ed Koch uses Coats and Clark for many of his midge patterns. Â I think his reason is that he can get many more color combination from the craft thread than the fly tying thread.
I’ve used it to tie small patterns and it did not make a difference on them. Â I have never used them for larger patterns (things that are not miidges) so I don’t know how they would work on them.
Give it a try.  😀  That is what fly tying is about.  You may come up with the next great pattern. 😮

MemberI am headed to upper new york to fish for steelhead in two weeks, and I have been surfin the net lookin for patterns to tie. I have never been so any info is appreciated. I have tied up several egg patterns, some chartreuse nymph looking things, and a few STS buggers I saw on schmidt outfitters. Help me please!!! 🙂
I have had luck with a blue Copper John in size 14. Â Also the scrambled egg pattern is a good one too. Â You must get you fly on the bottom. Â
A good book is John Nagy’s  “Steelhead Guide”  it is written for Lake Erie Steelhead fishing but he has many good patterns and techinques for catching Steelhead.
