MemberMalibu Kayaks seems to build the most stable of all the sit on top Kayak. I have never used a sit inside Kayak so I will not add any comments towards them.
The sit on top kayaks are perfect out here in Southern California. I fish them strictly in the ocean and have ย fished off two different ones, the Malibu Extreme and ย the Ocean kayak Prowler 13. The Extreme by far was the more stable of the two. I would sit sideways and fight some fairly large fish with no worries of tipping the kayak. Itโs also a very dry kayak and that was very nice on the cold mornings.
The Prowler 13 was not as stable as the Extreme, but is much fast. The Prowler is also a wet boat with your feet sitting in water for most of the day, which really blows on cold days.
There are two new Malibu Kayaks that just came out in the month of February. The Stealth 14 & 12. Both have a standing platform and with a 33โ width, these two kayaks will be super stable and dry. Iโm looking very closely at the Stealth 12 which would be perfect size for loading and unloading on my pickup truck with not to much effort. From what I have read thus far, the Stealth 14 has the same exact hull as the Malibu X-factor, which is the most stable kayak out there. The Stealth 12 has a new hull design and looks like itโs going to be a very stable at 33โ wide as well. Another addition to the new Stealth models is a live well in the center hatch. Great if you fish live bait, or you can just use the screw on plug and use it as a big lunch box.

MemberZach, if the G-flex does not work try 3M Marine Fast Cure 5200 adhesive sealant. My buddy Jim cut a hole in his brand new Malibu Kayak and added a flush mount transducer for his fish finder. The 5200 is super strong ๐

MemberHere is a link to a helpful discussion on 40D vs 50D.
40D vs 50DI was leaning towards the 50D at the new price of $1099 from B&H. I think all the improvements made are very well worth the extra money IMO. I shoot an XTi and I think that would be a huge jump up for me ๐

MemberDaryl, I am a newbie to the whole photography gig myself. I just purchased a 6 month old used canon 100mm 2.8 macro off the dgrin photography sites for $300, which I thought was a really good deal. This lens goes for about $400+ used in most ebay auctions. The lens is flawless and looks brand new, plus came with the original box and a blank warranty card.

MemberVery nice Scott ๐
Out here in Los Angeles I can see it quite clear for being in the big city with lots of lights everywhere. Although I can’t see any of the smaller star like in your last photo.

MemberJohn, thank you much for all the information. I’m just getting started with my photography and trying to read up as much as possible. It’s great to learn what other photographers are using.
Thanks again
