Good stuff MI Amigo!
My brother flew a Red Tail and a Harris Hawk a few years ago, but has since given it up. He says he still misses it dearly.
I can see the handwriting on the wall. Pretty soon you’ll be slogging through the swamp, camera hung around your neck, Raptor on your right fist and pulling a kayak. (LMAO)barry evans

I’ve been carrying/shooting a Pentax Optio 33WR for a few years and it’s been bullet-proof. I just recently upgraded to a Pentax Optio W30 which is water-proof to about 10′ (as opposed to the 33WR which Pentax considers Water Resistant). Both of these camera’s will take good photos if the photographer does his/her job.
It took me two cameras before I admitted to myself that s#** happens when one is fishing. The question isn’t if the camera will get soaked, but when will it happen.barry evans

A buddy of mine bought a 5 weight a couple of weeks ago. I got to cast it this past weekend. Based on how the rod performed, it looks like I’ll be adding another rod to my collection.barry evans
MemberAndrew
I agree with you 100%.
IMO, if the rod breaks, its been previously damaged, or it’s a case of pilot error, such as a loop around the tip, drag set too tight, or high sticking a fish, etc.barry evans
MemberJust thought I would let everyone know that the technique of getting embedded hooks out of your own skin using a loop of fishing line works.
txsaltflats
Yep, works like a charm and in most cases you never feel the hook coming out.barry evans

I agree with the others about the shady way the 86th Street Photo operates. Hopefully, you’ll be one of the lucky ones and have smooth transaction. If not, check out Amazon.com. I bought mine through them for just a few dollars more than I’d have payed one of the sleazy outfits.
That said, I just received mine and I’m still learning hoe to best use it.
I upgraded to the W30 from an old Pentax Optio 33WR. As much as I like the old 33WR, I’m thinking that I’ll like the W30 even more.barry evans

MemberHey Ken
Welcome aboard!
Like I told you, one can pick up a lot of knowledge on this Site. There’s an awful lot of very talented people that are more than willing to share their knowledge.barry evans

I agree with Cameron about the glass rods being slower. However, if you want to stay with graphite, I’d suggest looking/test casting one of the TFO Pro Series rods. IMO, they’re almost as slow as the glass rods.barry evans
MemberBen
I agree with the others, the second photo looks better to me, but in either case, Beautiful Car!barry evans
MemberCameron
Pretty “KEWL”.
I thought the Elements were a little more fuel efficient than that, but compared to that old Chevy, big block 454 Dually I used to own (8 mpg city/hi way) it’s a gas miser. (LOL)barry evans
MemberThis is my old Henschel that has served me well for many years.
The Sheepskin Hat band carries enough flies to allow me to eliminate at least one fly box for a days fishing.
Actually I have two of the hat bands set up. One warmwater & one saltwater, so all I have to do is change the hat band before I leave in the morning. -
