🙂 There is a picture in the latest “Fly Fishing” catalog from Cabelas that shows a rod holder. You could probably add to, or modify that model.
::) Don’t you hate when that happens? The worst time for it to happen is when you are close to another angler. :-[ It’s embarassing. When you’re alone not so bad. A few cussings and you try again. You can always crazy glue your fingers to the line. ???

;D My daughter graduated college and found a great job in San Diego. My wife survived 4 months of Chemo. and Radiation and is clear. I retired and can fish as much as I like. We had a great vacation in Italy to celebrate. And our daughter came home for the holidays, albeit not long enough. We are looking forward to 2006 with great expectations. Good luck to all. SilverDoc
:-[ I not sure how long “stuff” is going to be made in the U.S. I have a friend who works for a Chineses co. that sells products here ahd in Europe; he notes that in less than 8 years China will have the corner on almost every market in the world. He spends almost 6 months of the year in China, speaks Chinese and I believe one of the mosr astute judges of what’s to come. They are insatiabile, have the manpower and will continue to expand a nd grab the market for everything. I believe we did it to ourselves (manufactures, that is), and the trend is irreversable. 😉 Forgot to add, that if a line develops cracks or really takes on a memory, then it’s replaced. With the prices of lines today you have to try to get alot of milage from them. S.D. 😉
😀 For my Steelhead and Salmon lines, I treat them after each use and have not replaced them in about 5 years. They are still in good shape. Trout lines I do replace because I like trying new lines. At most only 3 lines per year. The rest seem to last if treated with line cleaner and inspected on about a bi-monthly basis. I put most of the pressure on 3 wt. 4 wt. and 5 wt. lines. During the year I fish at least 3 to 4 times a week. I also switch line so that one doesn’t get over used. Also, I look for bargains or discontinued lines. There are some good buys out there. Yea i think i m with you zack if i could only use one lens it would have to be a 50mm f1.2. i didnt specify film or digital – im not that far in the future yet. i wish i was. i could probably buy a dslr and save money on processing in the long run.
steve154, I went yesterday and the temp. was 26 and the water temp was 38. Cold at best, but here’s what I wear on cold days: socks; 2 pairs of fleece, followed by 1 pair heavy wool or “Genius gore tex. Next: underwear, 1 pair polypropelene, 2 pair fleece. and then breatheable waders. Fishing vest and a wind proof jacket. fingerless gloves. It only took an hour to thaw out my index finger yesterday. ;D For a hat, fleece of course and a neck band of fleece. I stay pretty warm with that combination. The trib. offer sounds good.
bd, You are right about that. After I went into medicine I realized too late after 38 years that I should have stuck with teaching. All weekends and nights would have been free to travel and fish. Now in my dotage I can do these things. Silver Doc
steve154, I live in Altoona. I’ve been here on and off since’78. I have the best streams within driviving distance. In fact I was out today. Had the whole river to myself. Who else would fish in water that was 38 degrees and the ambient temp. 26. I did catch fish and it was shear agony to unhook them. While walking to the car my waders were frozen. But it was still fishing. Read Robert Frost’s “Dust of Snow” and you could apply it to fishing in the winter. Silver Doc
