🙂 Type III and I’m lucky to have 2 shops like that in my area. Flyfishers Paradise in State College and Spruce Creek Fly Co. in Franklinville. They know your name, nice stock, no hard sell and the best advice when asked. They also have good fly tying classes. The giants of fly fishing can be encounterd at times. It’s a pleasure to go there even for a visit, but usually I wind up buying something. Silver Doc

😀 I have to laugh at the idea of your laptop burning up in class. (no sarcasam intended) In the “old days” when I was a student the only device we were allowed in class, besides pen, pencil and note book, was our slide rules. That was our computer/calculator. I still have mine that was passed doen to me by my Dad. It’s amazing the calculations you could do on it. There.s a picture of Enrico Fermi who was a physicist with one in his hand. That did help build the A bomb. Sorry for the nostalgia, but I could have used a laptop in those days. Silver Doc
🙂 My Dad and Uncle, who taught me the joys of hunting, fishing and the art of being honest. honest to others and to yourself. They are also gone along time ago, but the leesons are still fresh. I taught the same lessons to my children and hope that the lessons have stuck. It remains to be seen. Thanks, Silver Doc

🙂 There is a picture in the latest “Fly Fishing” catalog from Cabelas that shows a rod holder. You could probably add to, or modify that model.
::) Don’t you hate when that happens? The worst time for it to happen is when you are close to another angler. :-[ It’s embarassing. When you’re alone not so bad. A few cussings and you try again. You can always crazy glue your fingers to the line. ???

;D My daughter graduated college and found a great job in San Diego. My wife survived 4 months of Chemo. and Radiation and is clear. I retired and can fish as much as I like. We had a great vacation in Italy to celebrate. And our daughter came home for the holidays, albeit not long enough. We are looking forward to 2006 with great expectations. Good luck to all. SilverDoc
:-[ I not sure how long “stuff” is going to be made in the U.S. I have a friend who works for a Chineses co. that sells products here ahd in Europe; he notes that in less than 8 years China will have the corner on almost every market in the world. He spends almost 6 months of the year in China, speaks Chinese and I believe one of the mosr astute judges of what’s to come. They are insatiabile, have the manpower and will continue to expand a nd grab the market for everything. I believe we did it to ourselves (manufactures, that is), and the trend is irreversable. 😉 Forgot to add, that if a line develops cracks or really takes on a memory, then it’s replaced. With the prices of lines today you have to try to get alot of milage from them. S.D. 😉
😀 For my Steelhead and Salmon lines, I treat them after each use and have not replaced them in about 5 years. They are still in good shape. Trout lines I do replace because I like trying new lines. At most only 3 lines per year. The rest seem to last if treated with line cleaner and inspected on about a bi-monthly basis. I put most of the pressure on 3 wt. 4 wt. and 5 wt. lines. During the year I fish at least 3 to 4 times a week. I also switch line so that one doesn’t get over used. Also, I look for bargains or discontinued lines. There are some good buys out there.
