MemberOut of curiosity why don’t you just use a sealed led light that runs off AA batteries rather than a 12v light that needs the bigger 12v battery?
Is it because of the burn length, beam focus or brightness?

MemberDavid I’m sure you know Nick but it may be worth chatting to him about his experiences with the float boats in areas you would fish, if my memory is any good. http://codscountry.com
We are a BIG country and only have to worry about crocs in some parts of it. Exmouth/Onslow on the west moving North all the way round to Rockhampton in Queensland. Although the official site has not recognised the outliers in the Pilbara, WA yet http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/sprat/public/publicspecies.pl?taxon_id=1774

MemberYou can tie them on single or double hooks or as tubes. They mostly get used as tubes for billfish.
They can be huge flies.

MemberI always find it better to pre cool the esky before a serious trip. i normally just chuck a 3kg bag of ice in the night before to cool it down. Then load with block ice ~10kg worth. We then load it up with drinks and snacks and chuck it on the boat. It floats around, gets open and shut (most of the time). I can normally get 5-7 days out of my initial ice before needing to restock. This is during our mild summer with average temperatures of above 40oC. Over winter I do a lot better.
Your graph actually suggests there is a difference between brands. You have two eskys with ~8.5lbs left and two with ~6.5lbs left. I wouldn’t be surprised as the test continues the difference in the groupings become more pronounced. Whether it is statistically valid is another conversation…

MemberChris I must admit to wanting one of the Harfin 5/6s for a new fiberglass rod I have. Hope Ash will crank them into production soon after the new year.
In terms of fishing gear for Christmas there isn’t too much I need to scramble for anymore. Hopefully some tying gear will make the stocking though.

MemberI’ve just fallen in love with the Simms Paclite Jacket. Great for a little warmth in the morning or spray/rain protection during the day.
The other one I must have on me is a great set of pliers with cutters and a small knife (love my Spyderco Salt).

MemberThe H1 steal Spyderco use is made by a foundry in Japan. Not sure who then makes the blade, liners, etc but I’m fairly certain it is put together in the US.
Have a look on their website.

MemberI’ve been carry a spyderco salt for nearly eight years now. Work, boat and dunk. Opens one hand and not a spot of rust. It is a H1 metals and doesn’t hold an edge as long as the carbon ones but I can sharpen it regulary.
