I don’t want to make this political in any way but how about Dr. Carol Ann Woody and Dr. David Chambers who can tell us why we ALL should be concerned about large scale development of copper porphyry deposits (mines) in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Let me know if interested and I can provide contact information.
I’m going to suggest Beau Beasley. I heard him speak earlier this week and I was really impressed. He’s the author of 2 books (Fly Fishing Virginia and Fly Fishing the Mid-Atlantic) and has been put forth a ton of effort into researching, understanding and writing about the waterway access issues related to Crown Grants. Most people have heard of the issues happening on the Jackson River in Virginia, but Beau pointed out that are hundreds of such Crown Grants throughout the eastern US and these access rights don’t just impact fly fishermen. He noted another case involving Duck Hunters and even a third in which a land owner is preventing the state of Virginia from removing a dam. In addition to this, he organizes the annual Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival. He’s very knowledgeable, an excellent speaker and I think he’d make an excellent guest on the podcast.
