The Itinerant AnglerWelcome, Rosy.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerFly looks real good.
Experimentally speaking, I see one of what I thought was my ideas has hit the Umpqua pattern book this year (doesn’t it always happen like that?
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerIt wasn’t, actually, but I’ll put Duke’s on the list of places to visit.

The Itinerant AnglerWell, I’ll say for the record that Carter is a very good caster and he’s certainly got some meat behind his opinions; you are right that I’d choose the TCR over the SCPG if I were going to be throwing leadcore all day.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerHey DMK –
Man, you know, two years ago I’d have agreed with you wholeheartedly, but the more experience I get, and the more rods I throw, and the more good casters I watch, the less I think the rod really matters in any way shape or form.

The Itinerant AnglerHey Greg –
While I like the TFO TiCr very much myself and own two of them, I don’t think fly rods can be quantified in a test scenario in the way that article implies.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerNo, Jay, the opposite; lower ISO is LESS light sensitivity.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerBest bet is to set it to your lowest ISO (usually 200, but pro cameras offer down to 50; a big plus here), then switch to Shutter Speed Priority (“S” Mode) and roll it down as far as it will go, time-wise.

The Itinerant AnglerOrvis and Rainy’s.

The Itinerant AnglerHi Ralph, guys –
Thanks for the help here and nice to have you, Ralph.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerHey Rusty –
That is a good point; in fact, you may have convinced me to put an asterisk in there when I had a guide!
Fishing’s such a game of gray areas.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerThat’s a good question, Rusty; I don’t know the answer.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerYeah, I gotta say the distinction is between the fish that were raised on pellets and then left to fend for themselves, becoming feral if not wild, and those that continue to have pellets fed to them.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerHey Barry –
Good for you!
Look to your local fly shop.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerHey Steve –
I am not sure but I think that rod line may be limited to only a 5 weight or only a 5 and an 8 weight.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerHahaha, splitshot, don’t worry man.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerDrifter’s got good advice.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerI think the absolute best 8 weight on the market is the Sage Xi2 — that’s just a personal opinion, but I doubt you’ll find anyone to say anything other than good comments about that rod.
