Experimentally speaking, I see one of what I thought was my ideas has hit the Umpqua pattern book this year (doesn’t it always happen like that?
Well, I’ll say for the record that Carter is a very good caster and he’s certainly got some meat behind his opinions; you are right that I’d choose the TCR over the SCPG if I were going to be throwing leadcore all day.

Man, you know, two years ago I’d have agreed with you wholeheartedly, but the more experience I get, and the more rods I throw, and the more good casters I watch, the less I think the rod really matters in any way shape or form.

While I like the TFO TiCr very much myself and own two of them, I don’t think fly rods can be quantified in a test scenario in the way that article implies.
Best bet is to set it to your lowest ISO (usually 200, but pro cameras offer down to 50; a big plus here), then switch to Shutter Speed Priority (“S” Mode) and roll it down as far as it will go, time-wise.

Yeah, I gotta say the distinction is between the fish that were raised on pellets and then left to fend for themselves, becoming feral if not wild, and those that continue to have pellets fed to them.

I am not sure but I think that rod line may be limited to only a 5 weight or only a 5 and an 8 weight.
