MemberJust started getting into some of that bluegrass stuff, but I have listened to OCMS for a while…
My other pics would have to be some Blues Traveler, the Bart Crow Band, Brandon Jenkins, a TON of Cross Canadian Ragweed, the Doors, some Dwight Yoakam, Jason Boland, the Randy Rogers Band, Reckless Kelly, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Whiskey Myers, and a lot of some of the other stuff that’s already been mentioned.

MemberKinda funny that this gets posted, I was thinking about some of the stuff I used to read just the other day…
I always read a lot when I was a kid, but keep in mind that I’m only 19…

MemberI’ll second what Mike said about the Surefire, I have one that I keep on a lanyard that came with a hunting call I got and just keep it tucked down into my waders.

MemberI’ve got konics on both my 3 and 5 weight, you will get more than your money’s worth in performance with these reels.

MemberI’ve thought about doing the same sorta thing, only making a kind of memorial to my Grandpa.

MemberI’m definetly looking at them for a 7 wt. to do a lot of my big streamer work…but don’t wanna spend too much since I don’t fish that way all too often, looks like a good fit.

MemberZach,
The photoblog is definitely one of my favorite aspects of this site, glad to see that it’ll be back in action!
I’ll second that! I’ve kinda been going through withdrawls…

MemberOk, that makes more sense now…
I figured that the Japanese were using this kind of rod on small water, but could not figure out how. Makes a lot more sense now that I’ve had it explained a little betterzach smith
MemberThe main issue I see is that most Tenkara rods are a bit long for the Smokies (at 12′). Do they have like a 7 or 8 foot model, or would that defeat the purpose, do you think?
I’ve been looking at the Tenkara system as well and wondered the same thing. I was wondering about trying to use one on one of the small streams around here, but am not real sure about the manueverability. That being said, I cannot imagine this system being used on larger sized water, so there has got to be a way to figure it out. Of course I’ve never seen it done or done much research on the original applications, so I could be completely wrong about what kind of water it was originally designed for.
But, I do think it would be a lot of fun on the smaller trout streams as well as maybe being used for things like bluegill…

MemberCowboy hats being bad luck???
I’d have to disagree, there have been many times on a bright sunny day where I’ve worn mine to keep the sun off my neck and face…
Cool pics though, despite the shortage of fish…

MemberParalysis is a tragic and tough thing to deal with… My prayers definitely go for Tred and his family. However, I’m sure Tred will not allow any such condition to get in the way of his adventures.
You see, I became paralyzed just a short time ago. Sure, you have to do things a little differently, but I can assure you that he will find a way to do the things he used to. After being released from the hospital I began figuring out ways I could get back to the things I loved most, namely fly fishing. So, with a little research I found places and ways to get out on the water. I also found ways to go hunting and all of the other things I loved to do.
Anyways, I’ve been lurking around this site for quite a while, but saw a reason to join the forum when I read of Tred’s tragedy. While my thoughts certainly go to his health, I have no doubt that this will stop him from doing what he loves. I haven’t. -
