MemberThanks, guys. Anybody using sinking lines? I really like the Nautilus reels and am happy to hear the FWX 7/8 is a good fit.
I have an Orvis Depth Charge 200 grain sinking line on mine, and it’s perfect for throwing even very big streamers. For a floating line I really like the Rio Perception.

MemberI’ve fished with “Bonefish Cliff” a number of times. Back then (mid 2000s) it was pretty basic, a small boat and we were doing mostly wading. I think he’s come a long way since then in terms of boats, equipment, experience, etc–though I haven’t been back to check in. He’s a great guy and really fun to fish with. We generally caught a lot of small fish in schools, and then I’d break off and search for bigger fish. I had some really good shots–even one at a double digit class fish–but don’t think I connected with any of the bigger fish. I’d love to get back there. Staniel Cay is definitely a special place, even if it’s not a primo bonefish destination.

MemberThat’s my next car. I almost bought one when we moved out to Oregon, but we decided to keep beating up my Mercedes SUV until it dies and get my wife an Audi A3 instead. I was dead set on buying used, but the price on used 4Runners is crazy close to the price of new ones. It seemed stupid not to pay a few grand more for a car that is a few years newer and has no miles on it.

MemberI had a pair of Chotas that lasted forever, but they were really heavy and smelled terrible no matter what I did to them. They were twice as heavy when they were wet–and they took a while to dry out. Last year I bought some Patagonia Marlwalkers II on Sierra Trading Post (for about $40!) and they were great. Much lighter and no smell. I wear them with a pair of wading socks and expect them to last quite a while. They’re much lighter, don’t hold much water at all, and aren’t smelly. I’d definitely recommend them–especially if you can find a deal like I did.
