Graham those images are awesome. Were you shooting a Macro at the time? The thought occurred to me to try my Macro but I just didn’t. I’ll most likely use it when I go after the in flight shots because of the increased speed. I’ve just started with the hummers and it has me really thinking about finally spending the money for another flash to use remotely.

    Again great shots.

Just FWIW if you haven’t cast the CPX series from Redington you should. For the price these rods knock it out of the park.
I’ve got Xi3, SLT, TCX, CrossCurrent, etc, but I find the CPX in my hands about as much as any of them.

    I have the 400 5.6.

Cost was the limiting factor between any long prime with IS and the 400 5.6 for me. Obviously..

That I didn’t need the zoom and max sharpness being why I chose the prime over the 100-400. I’m second guessing that now… The lack of IS is a big deal for someone who loves to shoot long most of the time. Why they don’t add a 400mm IS version is mind boggling. I’m sure it’s to get more folks to drop $5000 on the 500…

If I were in that market with moderate amounts of money I think I’d be looking hard at the 300 2.8 IS and some TC’s. I’d probably still keep the 400 forever.

A few of the 400 (this board compresses them pretty bad)

I thinking I’ll probably convert from Aperture 3 to LR3… Aperture has some awesome features but LR just seems to be the better, cleaner, editor overall and coupled with CS4 i won’t be losing anything. the noise reduction difference is almost enough to make the change alone.

I spent just a few min with each program trying to save a heavily cropped and somewhat noisy pic of an eagle. The diff is substantial especially considering that I’ve had Aperture for a few months and LS3 for a few hours…

Now the task of moving and converting images begins,, again.

Checked it out finally and the NR is pretty amazing. Might be worth the switch.. Going to compare it to LR 3 for a few weeks and see which one wins.

Thanks! This time I was using a 70-200 F4 IS.

    in reply to: 50D or 7D #71007

I just picked up the 70-200 F4 IS. I’ve only shot with it a few days now and my initial impression is that it is an extremely accurate and easy to use lens. The images just look perfect right out of the camera. It’s the best Canon, or any other brand lens I’ve shot so far. Best bang for the buck too.

Adam I’d love to have that 10-22 but I keep telling myself I should just save up and buy a FF body then I’d have a whole new set of lenses. It’s a tough call.

If money isn’t the issue go with the 5D II. I struggled with the same decision Jarrod but ultimately money is a deciding factor for me and at the time the 7d was almost twice the price. I wanted to spend the bulk of my money on glass.

I would love to have the 7D but IMO it’s a little overpriced for the improvements I’m interested in. I’m not saying it’s overpriced. If I needed a camera that was also a video camera I’d be all over it.  If I had to do it again I’d most likely buy another 50D or save up a little for a

I just can’t see where this belongs here…. Play in crap long enough and you will smell of it too. Just sayin.
