MemberI got home and did a little focus test on the lens.
18mm @ f/2.8 (looks to be pretty close)

50mm @ f/2.8 (the 10mm line appears to be in focus to me)

This confirms what I have been seeing while taking photos of my son lately.

MemberMike,
I also wear a Fishpond pack, and inside of it I stuff a Seal Line Seal Pak. It is a roll top bag, that fits almost perfectly inside my Fishpond. It was tight for my D40 and 18-50 f/2.8 Sigma, but still worked fine. That is quite a bulky lens, so depending on what lens you will be carrying will determine how much space you have. I have been doing it this way for two years now without any troubles. If I find that I need to stuff additional items in my fishpond for a longer day on the water, I will take the Seal Pak out and strap it around my waist and wear it on my side in addition to the Fishpond.
Edit:
Oops, just saw that you have already made your purchase.travis_reynolds
MemberTrout – 2 hrs will have me on any of 7 fantastic tailwaters, and 30 minutes to the Clinch, Holston, & Smokies.

MemberSweet stuff there Corey, looks like a great trip. I’ve got a buddy heading down to fish the pass next week. Said it looks like an island in the distance.
On a photo note .. I picked up a new sigma 50-150 2.8 with a 2x converter for this trip and ended up returning it. I have had good luck with sigmas in the past, but this lens was a dud. Quality was pretty good, but autofocus was spotty. The 100-400 replacement is on the way!
I have heard mixed reviews about this lens. Sounds very inconsistent at best. I have the 18-50 f/2.8, and was going to get the 50-150 w/ 2x TC as my complement to it. Think I will revisit my options.

MemberI don’t have work near the quality as a bunch of you guys, but I also was curious about this recently.
I asked a computer buddy and another guy at a local store, and they both had the same response.

MemberWOW! You three guys have just raised the bar for all trip reports and pics. Once again, amazing photos, WOW….

MemberAlright that exceeds the limit of Knoxville recommendations….
The tailwaters have terrible generation schedules, too many leaves in the water during the fall, hot and humid summers, uummmm, trying to think of others. I recommend that people go far far away from Knoxville to fish. I hear that Idaho is nice…..
Living in Knoxville, some people take for granted what all we have here and the year round fishing provided to us. And there are so many species to choose from.
