Nice shots.  Not too knowledgeable on black basses; is that a spot, redeye, or what?  That big cichlid bump on the head is crazy!  Never seen one so pronounced on a black bass.  Looks like a peacock.  Thanks for the great pics.

Gary,  The black bass (largemouth) appears to be undernourished.  Or, it has spawned out and is trying to recover from being on the nest.  Which in either case, would be undernourished.  My opinion only.  Others may have a better one.

He’s probably thinking in terms of price and also, due to fluoro’s hardness, I’ve heard knots on heavy tippets don’t tend to set as well – any thoughts?Zach

What I have found is, tying a clinch knot and not a improved clinch works best.
