there were def. fewer people this year. not sure if it was due to a two night stint or other factors.
I chose to do 2 nights for a few reasons…
-The sold out at the door plus online tickets combined last year
-I had a TON of people complaining they didn’t get to see the film last year because they sold out
-They did almost NO advertising for the event last year
-I sent info out to 4 major universities in the area
-We blasted this event several times
-I personally pushed this event to everyone at every event we’ve done
-I’m a fly fishing junkie and reached out to anyone and everyone about it… even people that don’t fish.We had a good crowd both nights, but not even CLOSE to selling out. Next year I’m only doing 1 day. A lot of people didn’t follow thru with what they told me they’d do in regards to helping us reach out, and a bunch of people that told me they were coming did not (that includes a couple of clubs and organizations)
Either way, we had fun, laughs were had, tales were told, and beer wuz drunk.
=)

In the future, if you’re fishing the PA creeks and want a centralized location for both east and west side creeks, you can’t beat the Red Roof in Erie.
Out of curiousity (and this IS a real question) – Would you rather read an article written by someone passionate about a company and who believes in the message and spirit of said company in a magazine, or written by someone who’s writing from a 3rd person perspective looking at it from the outside?
I just reread some of these responses and some of you seem to be under the impression that sponsors are the ones reviewing gear and writing all the stories.
The TIF boys do the gear reviews.
No offense taken Zach. I’m home all dusty and curmodgeony due to feeling sick from inhaling sanding compound and sheetrock spackle for the last few days. That’s why you couldn’t get me, and why I came off as angry.
Truth be told, I think these guys have what it takes. I too love The Drake, and yes there’s an entire market that wouldn’t like either of these mags, but then again.. it’s their magazine.
By the way.. I hope you were jamming to TIF issue#2’s music selection. Definitely had me mellowed out while at work instead of listening to muzak all day.

First things first – this is their magazine and they can run and build it however the hell they want.
