i wanted to share with you some pictures of a steelhead that i caught.  thank you all for your help and steve154 it was great speaking with you and i look forward to the chance to fish with you if you get up to the erie area.

i got out for a few hours today.  the water is up and off color, but, the fishing is going to be good tomorrow and for the next few days in erie.  all of the fish are there and really spread out.  the bite was tough today because the temps have really dropped but i was able to tempt this beauty with my own mysis shrimp pattern (i’m calling it the estaz mysis).  enjoy and tight lines!

when setting up your dropper rig, how far do you tie the second fly from the first?  does it really matter?

we received a little rain here yesterday, as i’m sure you did also.  it didn’t have any real effect on the streams.  a few of the large ones are little more stained but not bad.  the water temps have been coming up from sundays low and i’ve been hearing about some great fishing going on.

how’s the fishing in your area?  i’m probably going to pick up a new york license here soon and get over the state line.  have you ever fished chautaqua creek?  i have a buddy that was just up there and said that he loves it.  not a lot of fishing pressure.  he didn’t catch any steelies but got a couple of nice browns.

i purchased the current orvis superfine trout bum.  for those of you that don’t know it’s a 7′ 4wt full-flex 4 pc rod.  it is absolutely fantastic! if you have the chance to cast this rod, give it a try!  i use it for all my dry fly fishing.  i’m just a novice and have some trouble throwing any type of weight with the rod, but that could be just because i’m a beginner.  

i’m also lucky enough to have a brother that is a fly fishing fanatic that lent to me his saracione fly reel.  check it out!  this is a sweet setup!  i’d love to see the new trout bum.  anymore details on this rod zach?
