MemberHere’s the setup i use. For budget macro (and you already have a DSLR) try the close-up rings/lenses. The 2+ and 4+ will give a nice result the 10+ you can trow away :). Also for the ones shooting in RAW a greycard is very handy and gives the best collor settings, don’t have to cost a lot i use a Whibal costing 29$

MemberMaybe you can tell us all something about the R1C1 Neal? I came across a second hand a few days ago and thinking about buying it.

MemberYou don t have to be really creative to get good shots, and as you say you did read books etc so i think you already waited for the good light and ran around your fishing friend all day or evening. In that case they can’t be that bad.
I did experience a few fantastic fishing photo moments, to bad i was holding the rod instead of the camera ๐ (still had fun though)
Now i go out just bringing my camera an a friend with a rod and hope he will get in a fantastic fishing photo so i will be there to make it a shot of a lifetime.edit: like Lee said post some pics here

MemberDon’t want to hijack this topic but i m also planning to make some video’s witch my 3 ccd panasonic. This will be instructional casting vids. How do you guys deal with the audio and does anyone have a wire(less) microphone with there camera?

MemberGo for a cheap set so it won’t hurt there wallet and if they really are going to like it they will soon want something costing more then a 100 bucks.
I started cathing small rouch with a rod and reel i bought from a guy on the dutch version of ebay. In time i learned more of flyfishing and wanted more quallity gear, but still have that cheap ass second hand hanging from the ceiling ๐

Memberreally really cool indeed.
edit : i just finished reading the interview on TFM and liked it very much. The last words are also something to think about for a webmaster:
We wonโt waste a single inch of space on something that does not entertain.
Thanks for that. ๐

Kevin the reflection is a real reflection, can a real reflection be “off”? Or did you not mean , not correctly created in photoshop?

Member@Aaron. For my it is cheaper to order in Singapore but in the US they will be as you say, also cheap.
@ Shannon. Dirty word stood for automode snapshot takers. This huge market will easier buy a camera with the quality of an SLR and the comfort of a compact, thats what i think the big manufacturers are aiming for. And also i think in a few years the live view is on every camera you buy. For now it draws people in a certain price segment over the line to buy an SLR.

MemberYeah Kevin that’s the way you do it. Remember in a few days things will get better.
Keep telling yourself starting again is for who stop fishing at the first raindrops.
Good luck

MemberI believe I am going to go with the D80. ย I would swap to cannon but I have never owned one and am not sure the ease of there use. ย I did consider the new rebel xsti.
That one has one huge bonus for “dirty word” photographers….Live view!
My dad ones one, and shoot nice photo’s with it (on auto mode ๐ ) Personaly id go for a Nikon but just for photo quality it makes no difference.

MemberI don’t know of the more pics per battery but if so i wouldt not let that be an argument because a good spare batt costs about 6 dollars in Singapore.
The difference in auto focus is that the D80 can handle AF lenses because of the onbody focus motor. Also the D80 has a 11 point focus field and the D60 3 points.
Another difference is that if you want to use flash in the future the D80 can control the remote, the D60 can’t. That is if they are nikon sb800 or 600′ s

MemberD60 or D80 would be a great choice. If you would ask if a Canon D400 or D450 would be great the answer is the same. I ve got a D60 and it works great for me, D80 wouldt be a bit better in options. On AUTO (that’s a dirty word in photographers land ๐ ) both work great my girlfriend can easily take good sharp pictures.

MemberI quit smoking for two years now and never regretted that. My girlfriend and i quitted both for her to become pregnant. Two weeks later we found out she already was pregnant a few weeks before we gave up smoking :).
But like Mike said when someone lights up a smoke when we are fishing i feel the need again.
